Catherine didn’t start this journey seeing herself as a competitor.
She was already balancing work, two kids, and a full life.
And she was hesitant—not only about competing, but about some of the training that would eventually become normal for her.
That changed little by little.
She kept showing up.
She got stronger.
She became more capable.
And eventually, she stepped onto the mat and tested it.
Now she’s not just competing.
She’s placing at tournaments.
Her jiu-jitsu coaches develop the skills her sport demands. At ReCode, our job is to help develop the body that has to perform them—strength, control, rotation, balance, power, and the ability to handle force.
The podium is a result.
The part I respect most is everything that happened before it.
Catherine didn’t get more hours in the day than anyone else.
She made the hours she had count.
