Weekly wins!
The theme of this past week was running for a bigger purpose- for the love of others. ❤️
Thursday morning, a few of us met up with Brady McDonald. He was on day 48 of his goal to run a 50k (31 miles) in 50 consecutive days in all 50 states! The ultimate goal was to raise $1 million to grant 100 wishes with Make-A-Wish. Both goals were accomplished! It was an honor to meet him, his wife Kristy and their 2 girls! If you’d like to make a donation, you can go to zeroto100wishes.com!
Charlie, Bonnie and Sandi ran the 9/11 Memorial Run around the Rez loop, where firefighters and first responders ran and walked, some even in their turn out gear. Saturday morning, several of our RunStrongers did Tunnel to Towers in honor of firefighters who gave their lives on 9/11. Participants were given a badge number with the name and story of someone who died on that day.
Both of these events were a powerful way to remember those lives lost 25 years ago. “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” - John 15:13
On a happier note, there was so much bling earned on Saturday! Congratulations to Ashley on a PR and 1st in her age group (the day after her 10 mile long run), Kelsey on 1st in her AG (who came to HQ immediately after to finish out her 14 mile long run), Nancy on a PR and 1st in her AG, Susan on 3rd in her AG, and Bonnie on 3rd in her AG!
We had Hills and Pizza Tuesday night, our usual Thursday night coached workout and long runs on Saturday. Michelle and Laurie were back for their 2nd year at Rebecca Mountain for the 25K!
We’ll see you next Thursday, September 24, at 6 pm for the RunStrong x Gabby Strong Foundation $5 5K for The Cure Starts Now with Gabby Strong Foundation to raise money for The Cure Starts Now.
