JULY IS DISABILITY PRIDE MONTH ❤️💛🤍💙💚 Steel Ring Academy is celebrating all of our students with any form of disABILITY!

Disability Pride Month celebrates and advocates for those affected by sensory disabilities, emotional and psychiatric disabilities, physical disabilities, neurodiversity, and invisible and undiagnosed disabilities.

The current Disability Pride Flag was created by Ann Magill in 2021. It features 5 stripes of colors representing:

❤️ Red - Physical Disabilities
💛 Gold - Neurodiversity
🤍 White - Invisible Disabilities and Disabilities that haven't yet been diagnosed
💙 Blue - Emotional and Psychiatric Disabilities (including mental illness, anxiety, and depression)
💚 Green - Sensory Disabilities (including deafness, blindness, lack of smell, lack of taste, audio processing disorder, and all other sensory disabilities)

It's MEYER MONDAY! At Steel Ring Academy, we use Joachim Meyer's manuscript published in 1570 as the foundation of our studies. This colored print shows an original cover of "A Foundational Description of the Free, Chivalric, and Noble Art of Fencing, showing all customary weapons, decorated with many beautiful and useful figures." At SRA, we use Jeffrey L Forgeng's translation to reconstruct the techniques used in Meyer's fechtschule, or fencing school. The manual begins with Longsword, and also includes Dussack, Rapier, Dagger, and Pole Arms.
