🌊 CPonies “Career Change Chronicles” – Featuring Ahi, aka The Big Tuna 🐟

Every now and then, a beach horse decides the beach… just isn’t their thing. 😅

Meet Ahi, also known as “The Big Tuna,” registered as Suzi's Big Hot Rod in Heaven. Years ago, Ahi tried his hoof at being a CPonies beach horse… and let’s just say he did not submit a great performance review.

Between the questionable attitude, strong opinions about work, and a general vibe of “I’d rather not,” he was politely relieved of his beach duties. In other words… he was fired. 🤷‍♀️

Thankfully, our business manager Amanda decided he deserved a second chance. She set out on a mission to figure out what this giant, opinionated horse actually liked to do.

They tried:
• Jumping
• Drill team
• Fun Shows
• Trail riding (where he would occasionally just lay down mid-ride 🙄)
• Obstacle Courses
• Driving
• Roping

For a while, Ahi seemed convinced his true calling in life was professional moocher and full-time pasture ornament, living his best life getting rounder in the field.

Then in 2019, they discovered Western Dressage… and suddenly the horse who refused to cooperate on the beach decided he’d rather dance instead.

Fast forward to today and the formerly unemployed beach horse is now:
🏆 Multiple World Champion
🏆 USEF Horse of the Year (Intro through Level 2)
🥇 WDAA Gold Medalist
🎯 Currently schooling Level 3 and aiming for WDAA Supreme Champion

Turns out Ahi just prefers to dance alone rather than work in the surf. 💃🐎

And even though he’s technically retired from the CPonies beach crew, he still occasionally gets roped into extracurricular activities such as photo shoots, weddings, and even performing a sabrage on the beach. 🍾🐎

He also does his own community service, helping teach kids about carriage driving alongside your CPonies guide, Mark. 🚗🐴

And while he may have been fired from the beach crew, he found something even better — a lifelong partnership and home with Amanda… who never imagined there would come a day she couldn’t picture life without her Big Tuna. ❤️

Sometimes the horses that don’t fit the job… just haven’t found their stage yet.

Do you remember Marina’s baby, born February 11, 2022? 🐴🦈

Well… here he is FOUR years later! Meet Sharky, all grown up and living his best life in his forever home with our business manager (and your favorite guide) Mark.

Sharky is still figuring out what he wants to be when he grows up. His résumé so far includes:
✨ Dabbling in Traditional and Western Dressage
✨ Conquering obstacle courses
✨ Learning to drive
✨ Professional water tester
✨ Full-time pond shark 🦈💦

Just like his mama Marina, he absolutely loves the water. If there’s a pond, hose, trough, puddle, or anything remotely splashable… Sharky is already in it. We’re pretty sure if he had a dorsal fin, he’d be circling the pond waiting for snacks.

We love watching these babies grow up, and it makes it even more special when they stay in the CPonies family. ❤️
