A Fresh Start to the School Year at Manhattan School District! 🍎

Manhattan School District # 3 is "spicing" up school meals this school year with a new condiment station that gives students more choices and the opportunity to customize their meals! 🧂🌿

New from-scratch recipes, including tater tot casserole, fresh tomato soup, and more have already been enjoyed this year! 🍲

The district’s continued efforts to enhance school meals were supported through training provided by the School Meals Support Program.

We’re excited to see these changes in action and look forward to a great—and delicious—school year ahead! 🥪🍽️

🥙Cuisine Around the World Culinary Training🥙

Alex Nguyen, Food Service Director at Box Elder Schol taught fellow school nutrition professionals how to make beef birria meat for tacos, quesadillas, etc 🌮🌮

In this special class, he honored his heritage, Mexican and Vietnamese, through student approved recipes inciting fresh spring rolls, mediterranean cucumber salad 🥗, bison taquitos, bison chokecherry sloppy joes 🍔, and beef/lentils/green pea curry 🫛

Wolf Creek school students enjoyed a culinary class making homemade bison tamale pie and blueberry cornbread! Something (the lack of leftovers) tells us these recipes are going to be added to their regular menu rotation! 🫐🍅

The kids also participated in Food Education class, learning about the food pyramid by creating their own 'pyramid silly faces' for snacks🌶️🥚🫛
