First day in PCB is in the books! We finished the day 1-2.

In Game 1, we jumped out to an early lead and held it for nearly six innings. A couple of mistakes late combined with some great hitting by Stealth, led to a walk-off loss against a very tough A Class team from Texas.

Game 2 was a battle through the first three innings but we didn’t have our best defensive game and the Typhoons took advantage. Even in both losses I thought we played some very good softball. Every team in this bracket is talented and wins aren’t going to come easy.

In Game 3, we gave up 5 in the first inning against a solid Florida Elite team but bounced back and got the bats rolling and locked in on defense earning our first win of the tournament. Even in defeat we couldn’t be more proud of the way these girls competed through three straight games in the Florida heat.

Now it’s on to bracket play. We drew another very strong A Class team from TN but that’s exactly why we came here to compete against the best. We know we have our work cut out for us and ready for the challenge. 💪

We’ve wrapped up our final practice as an 8U team here in PCB. It’s definitely bittersweet but win or lose these girls have worked incredibly hard and have put together an outstanding 8U campaign that they should be proud of.

Competing exclusively in 8U Open tournaments, we’ve faced 38 different opponents from six states—and we’ll add to that total this week. Even more impressive 19 of the 21 different opponents we’ve faced this season have winning records. Over the past year, these girls have totaled 1,933 plate appearances and 1,296 hits, batting an incredible .670 as a team. They’ve struck out just 27 times in 72 games only 9 of those coming this spring despite nearly 1,100 at-bats. They’ve scored 860 runs while allowing 406 with a +454 run differential.

Along the way they’ve earned 11 championships, 3 runner-up finishes, and an overall record of 60-12. There has only been one team we’ve played more than once that has a winning record against us. To say we’re proud of this group would be an understatement.

But none of that guarantees anything this week. We know we’ll have to earn it. We’ve got one more page left to write in this chapter. Wish these girls luck as they compete against some of the best teams in the South from Kentucky to Texas. We will be competing with teams from cities who are more than 30x more populated than the small towns we come from. We’re grateful for the opportunity to represent Unity and honored to be the only 8U team representing Kentucky.

Big shoutout to the Warren County 8U All-Stars for meeting up with us for a great scrimmage in the heat! Both teams got some valuable work in, and we appreciate the opportunity to compete.

Best of luck next weekend as you represent Warren County in the Little League State Tournament. We’ll be cheering you on!

Our girls were also excited for their PCB swag bags tonight, the excitement is definitely starting to set in!

After nearly 12 hours at the ballfield, these girls are coming home champions! 🏆

As they say, it’s tough to beat a good team twice much less three times in the same day. We entered the championship undefeated, but after a long break we struggled to get the bats going and dropped the first championship game, forcing the “if” game. Credit to Lightning they came ready to play and made us earn it.

Our Unity girls finished the day 5-1 and continue to build momentum at the perfect time before we head to PCB for the World Series.

Defensively, we made some mistakes but overall the defense was on fire! We made a ton of big time plays. Only one ball reached the outfield grass, and it was a line drive that literally knocked Avery’s glove off after she caught it. Our outfield showed up and showed out! Infield was tough too. We were inches away from turning another 6-4-3 double play, a 1-6-3 double play, and nearly recorded a couple of unassisted double plays at shortstop.

This defense is really starting to click at exactly the right time. Next challenge..PCB! We know we have our work cut out for us but when we’re on we have proven we can play with anyone! Proud of this group and the way they continue to compete. 💜🧡🙌

We are preparing to head out for the beach at the end of next week for our final OOH RAH of 8U, and we’re hoping these girls can go out with a bang! 🌴🙌

No matter what the results are, this group has already put together an incredible 8U campaign. They’ve grown so much as players, teammates, and competitors. We couldn’t be more proud of everything they’ve accomplished.

As bittersweet as it is to see this chapter come to a close, we’re just as excited for what’s ahead. This is only the beginning for this special group and we can’t wait to make a few more memories together in Panama City Beach, FL before turning the page to the next chapter. 💜🧡

After going 3-0 in pool play and entering bracket play as the #1 seed we finished the day as Finalists with a 4-1 record.

While we weren’t able to find a way to leave as Champions, these girls showed exactly what they’re capable of all day long. We played some outstanding softball on both sides of the ball. Defensively, we turned our first 6-4-3 double play, nearly completed a 1-6-3 double play, and made several big time plays including double plays on line drives and pop-ups. Our defense was locked in.

Although the championship game didn’t go our way, this weekend proved once again that these girls’ names belong with the best of them. At this level the difference between winning and losing is often a play or two and these girls continue to show they are every bit as capable and talented as any team we’ve seen and they’re only getting stronger 💪

We couldn’t be more proud of them and excited to see what they continue to accomplish moving forward. 🙌
