The world of karate is mourning the loss of one of its most influential masters, Kaicho Hatsuo Royama.
A direct student of Sosai Mas Oyama, founder of Kyokushin-kan, and lifelong ambassador for the spirit of budo, Royama devoted more than six decades to preserving and advancing Kyokushin karate. His teachings, leadership, and example inspired generations of martial artists around the world.
Black Belt Magazine extends its deepest condolences to his family, students, friends, and the entire karate community.
May his legacy continue to live on in every dojo, every training session, and every karateka who follows the path he helped preserve.
