Every rep, every run, and every recovery session right now has a very clear purpose. 🏋️‍♂️⚡

When you step back from the competitive circuit to reset, the work doesn't stop: it just gets more intentional. I’m putting in the daily sweat equity across three big fronts right now.

🔹 HYROX Denver (November 12): My next big test on the floor is right around the corner on home turf! Dialing in the pacing, functional strength, and engine output for race day.

🔹 The 2027 Pickleball Season & Coaching: Laying a rock-solid foundation to return to the pro circuit and coaching court at peak performance. Every drill and workout is an investment in coming back sharper and more explosive than ever.

🔹 For MYSELF: Above all else, prioritizing my physical and mental well-being. Approaching 60 isn't about slowing down; it's about training smarter, honoring recovery, and proving that your best years can still be ahead of you.

Showing up for yourself every single day when nobody is watching is where the real growth happens.

What’s the main goal keeping you motivated in your training right now? Let me know in the comments! 👇

The summer sweat equity has been off the charts! 🏋️‍♂️💦

I've been putting in serious work on the HYROX floor over these past few months, blending heavy functional workout stations with relentless running splits. Tapping into this level of strength-endurance hasn't just transformed my physical engine; it's given me a whole new gear for staying sharp, explosive, and durable on the pickleball court.

Build the tank, respect the work, and let the results speak for themselves.

What are you working towards right now?! I'd love to hear in the comments! 👇

Athletic longevity isn’t just about pushing through. It’s about knowing when to listen to your mind and body when they tell you it’s time to reset. 💙

Earlier this summer, I made the tough but necessary decision to withdraw from the remainder of the 2026 CSP season to focus on my mental and physical health after a heavy few months. Please swipe to read my full letter.

Grateful beyond words for everyone in my corner for the endless support, check-ins, and grace during this transition. I'll see you on court in 2027 stronger than ever.

: Building the Engine 🏊‍♂️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♂️

Throwing it way back to my Ironman days! Long before I ever picked up a pickleball paddle, my athletic world revolved around endless miles on the road, grinding through swim-bike-run training blocks, and learning how to push my engine past what felt physically possible.

People often ask where the stamina comes from when I'm competing deep into an eight hour tournament bracket on the pro circuit. The truth is, the foundation for the athlete I am today was built right here in these photos:

🔹 Mental Toughness: Endurance racing teaches you how to stay locked in when fatigue sets in. That same discipline translates directly to staying calm and clear-headed during a high-stakes third-game tiebreaker.

🔹 Aerobic Capacity: Hours on the bike and pavement forged the cardiovascular base that lets me bounce back quickly between intense, fast-twitch kitchen rallies.

🔹 Longevity & Recovery: Learning proper pacing, fuel, and body maintenance early on is the exact reason I'm still competing at peak performance as I near 60.

Lately, I've been tapping back into those deep endurance roots in a big way. My cross-training has heavily shifted toward HYROX, combining that old-school aerobic engine with heavy functional workout stations. Blending HYROX strength-endurance with pro pickleball agility has kept my training fresh, challenging, and dialed in.

The sport might evolve over the years, but the core principle stays the same: build a massive engine, respect the recovery, and never stop pushing your limits.

Where there's a wall, there's a way!

Staying sharp comes down to consistency and getting quality "daily touches." Wall work isn't just about mindlessly repping out hits; it's about intentional practice and mechanical discipline.

Here's the breakdown of what I'm locking in on during this session:

🔹 Target Precision: Aiming dead-center on the square for every single rep to train repeatable accuracy.

🔹 The Forehand Challenge: Taking every ball as a forehand. This dramatically cranks up the lateral movement challenge, forcing crisp footwork, rapid split-steps, and fast recovery. (Plus... let's be honest, with proper court positioning, we really shouldn't be hitting backhands all that often in pickleball anyway 😉).

🔹 Compact Mechanics: Focus is strictly on "swinging at strikes." Keep a tight, controlled swing path and pair every hit with deep visualization.

You don't need a full venue to elevate your game: just a wall, a clear target, and disciplined movement.

How are you getting your daily touches in right now? Wall work, ball machine, or drilling with a partner? Let me know below! 👇

Dialing in the rhythm and pacing with a 1/4 HYROX simulation! 🏃‍♂️⚡

As I take a break from pickleball competition this fall, it's been great to dive back into my endurance sport roots.

A full race is a total beast: 8 x 1km runs paired with 8 functional workout stations. This session was all about practicing smooth transitions and steady output, breaking it down to 250m runs and 1/4-distance/reps on each station.

Also, shoutout to the solo production team: today I was the athlete, timekeeper, videographer, director, and the entire setup/breakdown staff. 🤪

All of this is part of building a base as I look forward to breaking into the Masters Pro (60+) category and a return to singles competition in 2027.

A single freeze-frame can reveal a lot about what’s happening on the pickleball court. 👀

In this quick breakdown, Scott looks beyond the ball to analyze positioning, balance, footwork, paddle readiness, and the small details that can make a big difference in the next shot.

This is just a preview of the full breakdown. 🎥

The match is won long before you step on the court.

After 20+ years as a competitive athlete, from D1 tennis, 5x IRONMAN competitor, to the pro pickle circuit, I’ve learned that longevity is not an accident. It’s a system.

And as I get ready for this next chapter, including HYROX Denver on my 59th birthday this fall, I’m more focused than ever on what happens before the competition starts.

The training.
The recovery.
The fuel.
The sleep.
The boring stuff that keeps you dangerous.

Because staying competitive as you approach 60 is not about chasing what you used to be. It’s about building the body, habits, and mindset that let you keep showing up at a high level. A few things I don’t skip:

🔹 Sleep and recovery: You cannot outplay a fatigued body. Rest is not the opposite of training. It is part of the training.

🔹 Fuel and hydration: I don’t wait until I’m depleted to start taking care of my body. I use Previnex to stay fueled and keep my mineral levels balanced before, during, and after competition.

🔹 Purposeful Reps: Whether I’m training for pickleball, fitness, or , I’m not just moving to move. I’m working the uncomfortable transitions, the explosive moments, addressing weaknesses, and the details that show up under pressure.

The older I get, the more I believe this: Performance does not expire. But you do have to prepare for it.

What’s one part of your training or recovery routine you never skip?
