Congratulations to alumna Kristi Wagner '11 and her USA Women's Quad who placed 2nd in yesterday's Heat after a fierce finish, coming within 0.05 seconds of overtaking Switzerland and now advancing to Thursday's Semis.

Please join us in giving a HUGE welcome back to Sandra, our newest coach! 🎉

Sandra was part of the DubDub coaching staff from 2019 until the start of COVID, working with our Novice Boys. She has been coaching since 2011, most recently as Assistant Coach and Interim Head Coach at Simmons, working with both novice and varsity women. She has also coached at Watuppa Rowing Center and internationally with high-performance para-rowing crews.

Sandra loves helping athletes fall in love with rowing and preparing them for wherever the sport can take them. ❤️🧡

We are thrilled to welcome Ellie Myatt to the DubDub family as our Novice Boys Coach! 🎉

A Boulder, Colorado native, Ellie grew up with a love for all things mountain-related—especially trail running and mountain biking. She rowed for a small club in Colorado before competing for Colgate University’s varsity program, and discovered her passion for coaching while working with her high school club during college.

Ellie currently coaches recreational programs with CRI, but her real passion is youth competitive rowing, making her a fantastic addition to our coaching team! 🙌

What does Ellie love most about rowing? The community. ❤️🧡 She believes there is nothing quite like the bond created by putting in the hard work alongside your teammates. She also places a strong emphasis on the mental side of the sport—building resilience, teamwork, and the mental toughness that athletes can carry with them far beyond the boathouse. 💪

We are SO excited for Ellie to share her passion, experience, and enthusiasm with our novice athletes—and for her to become part of the WW community!

We publicly thank Bill Kilcoyne, Wayland Recreation Department head in 2000 and through the team's earliest years, without whose support and enthusiasm Wayland-Weston Crew could not have gotten off the ground. Bill long harbored hopes of seeing his grandson, Joshua, one day rowing for Wayland-Weston--and now he does with Bill cheering him on at regattas. The Wayland Recreation Department's unstinting support for youth development has continued right up to today and they are a vital part of the team!

TBT - In this week's episode we continue our Boathouse 20th Anniversary Celebration and feature the 2006 grand opening festivities attended by team members, coaches, parents, alumni, Town officials, and other friends of the team.

Participants included the Boathouse Development Committee consisting of Messrs. Stevens, Rikleen, Zieff, and Maietta. Based on our success with the project, we offered our services to the Commonwealth of Mass. to help straighten out the $8 billion "Big Dig" Central Artery/Tunnel Project, at the time way over budget and late. We're awaiting their call.

100 years young—and still pulling. Rowing is a sport for a lifetime!
