Next up in our Heart of Soccer Unity Project Series: Junior Coach Rayan Baana! ⚽💙

Rayan has been part of Soccer Unity Project as a Junior Coach since last summer, bringing kindness, positivity, and a deep love for soccer to the field.

As one of the youngest members of our workforce development program, Rayan has continued to grow into his role with patience and confidence. For him, coaching is rooted in the belief that growth matters more than performance. He brings that mindset to every on field session, showing up with a steady presence that helps players feel supported as they try new things and build confidence through the game.

Over the past year, Rayan has grown as a coach, leader, and role model both on and off the field. This summer, he will continue that journey as one of our youth leaders representing Soccer Unity Project at Festival 26!

Next up in our Heart of Soccer Unity Project Series: Junior Coach Lucy Kimmel Robidoux! ⚽💙

Lucy’s time with Soccer Unity Project is a true full-circle story. She started playing with South End Soccer as a little girl, grew up through our grassroots and travel programs, and now is a leader in our community as a Junior Coach. Her growth is a powerful example of what happens when young people grow up in a community that believes in them and then get the chance to lead within it.

As one of our first junior coaches, Lucy has brought consistency, care, humor, and joy to our fields. She has been part of the growth of our Junior Coach program, helping shape a culture where young leaders are trusted, supported, and empowered to create welcoming spaces for the next generation of players.

Whether she’s offering thoughtful insight or being the super funky chicken, Lucy reminds us that youth leadership is about showing up with joy and making sure every player feels like they belong.

Erikson is a rising senior at Tech Boston Academy and one of the younger leaders in our workforce development program. Since he first started coaching with us last summer, Erikson has continued to show up through the fall and winter seasons eager to learn, growing in his confidence, finding his coaching voice, and becoming a consistent presence for our grassroots players.

Quiet, thoughtful, and steady, Erikson leads in a way that makes kids feel supported. He has worked hard to develop his skills as a coach, and that growth has paid off in the way players respond to him.

At Soccer Unity, we’re energized by giving our players the opportunities to grow, be challenged, and support one another - all while building a stronger Boston community, one team at a time.

Our grassroots players are in!

With one week until the first-ever World Football Giving Day, we’re excited to share that Boston University is generously helping us kick things off by matching the first $2,500 donated to Soccer Unity Project.

This spring, every one of our grassroots programs filled within 72 hours, and hundreds of kids who want to play are still left on waitlists. The demand is real, and with the World Cup coming to Boston, it will only continue to grow.

Every donation helps us meet that demand and create more free soccer opportunities for young people across Boston.

We’re proud to share that 22 young people from Soccer Unity Project will be part of the FIFA World Cup 26™ Player Es**rt Program.

They were identified through our community in recognition of the role they already play here and the values, commitment and contribution they show every day.

On June 23rd, they’ll walk onto the pitch alongside some of the biggest soccer players in the world, a huge moment for them and for our wider community too.

This opportunity is part of a wider program supported by Quaker and Common Goal, connecting young people from communities across the United States to FIFA World Cup 26.
