My name is Josh Hanson.

This is my first year as a senior schwinger. I have been able to participate in Schwingfests since I was about 6 years old. I have competed at Ripon, Tillamook, Frances, Portland, and Tacoma. I have been coached and mentored by many great men, including Joe Ming, Paul Inderbitzin, Jason Gwerder, Nathan Holdener, Anthony Portman, Larry Holdener, and Bob Holdener. I'm also thankful for Bob's help in connecting with my Swiss heritage. Through the years I have won, I have have lost,
have crowned, and I have had a lot of fun.

Recently, I was presented with the opportunity to attend a Schwingfest in Quebec, Canada. I'm flying out this week. This is only possible because of the generous donations of members of the West Coast Swiss clubs. I am grateful, and I will do my best to represent them well.

Sincerely,
Josh Hanson

Dear Tillamook, Oregon; Portland, Oregon; Truckee, California (my first crown); and Ripon, California,

I am very thankful for letting me come wrestle. I had a blast traveling and competing, and the competition was great. I also really appreciate all the support from the crowds and all the nice comments and encouragement.

A big thank you to Joe Ming for all his motivation and advice.

Thank you Paul Inderbitzin for the Tacoma Swiss shirts.

Thank you to the Francis Swiss Club and Frank Keach for letting me practice there.

Thank you to Bobby Holdner, Anthony Portman, and Rich Hanson for being my coaches and helping me along the way.

And lastly, a huge shoutout to the Tacoma Swiss Club, who I am proud to represent. Thank you for all the support and encouragement throughout my journey.

See you all next year!

Romeo Gwerder

This spring, the Swiss Club of Tacoma created an exciting new vision for our children's playground-showcased here in Phase 1 and Phase 2.
This project is powered entirely by our club brought to life through donated time, services, and volunteer labor.
To make this playground a reality for our kids and families, we need your help.
If you'd like to make a donation to make this new playground possible, please reach out to Club President Joe Deck at [email protected]
