Congratulations to all of our students who successfully tested and earned their next belt rank! 🎉

Summer can be a challenging time to stay consistent with vacations, travel plans, and busy schedules, but these students continued to show up, work hard, stay disciplined, and give their best effort throughout the summer.

We are incredibly proud of the dedication and perseverance you showed to make it to testing. Keep working hard and moving forward toward your next goal!

🥋🎉 Master Kim’s Taekwondo Annual Block Party Recap! 🎉🥋

First off… we know we’re a little behind on social media! 😅 But we have had an INCREDIBLE summer, and we’ll be catching everyone up this week with highlights from our Black Belt Testing in May, summer camps, movie nights, monthly belt tests and so much more!

But first — our Annual Block Party from last Saturday! ☀️🎈

This year’s Block Party was our BIGGEST one yet, and we can’t thank everyone enough for coming out and making it such a special day! ❤️

We had:

💦 Instructor Dunk Tank
🥋 Masters, Instructors & Demo Team performances
☀️ A huge outdoor Taekwondo class
🛍️ Amazing local business vendors
🍖 Delicious food from BBQ4LIFE
🎟️ Raffles, prizes & MORE!

Most importantly, we got to spend an amazing Saturday together with our students, families, instructors, friends, and community. Thank you for continuing to make MKTKD such a special place!

Last Saturday, we held our very first Women’s Self-Defense Seminar, and we couldn’t be more grateful to everyone who joined us!

From teens, students, moms, aunts, grandmothers, friends, and family members, it was incredible to see so many women come together to learn, grow, and support one another.

Throughout the seminar, we covered far more than just physical self-defense techniques. We discussed the importance of situational awareness, recognizing warning signs, setting healthy boundaries, trusting your instincts, using your voice with confidence, understanding common tactics used by offenders, and developing the mindset needed to stay safe before a physical confrontation ever occurs. Of course, we also practiced practical, easy-to-remember techniques designed to help create an opportunity to escape and get to safety.

Our hope is that every woman who attended left feeling a little more confident, a little more prepared, and empowered to protect not only herself but also the people she loves.

This is a topic we’re incredibly passionate about, and we’re excited to continue offering these seminars to our community on a regular basis. We believe that education, awareness, and confidence can make a lasting difference.

Yesterday, Master Kim, Master Bae, and two of our amazing instructors, Miss Marley and Miss Lily, had the wonderful opportunity to visit Giraffe Laugh Learning Center and introduce Taekwondo to their preschoolers! 🥋💙

The students learned about using their Eye Focus 👀, Mind Focus 🧠, and Body Focus 💪, while discovering the importance of trying their very best—even when something feels challenging. We talked about perseverance, confidence, and never giving up!

To top it all off, several of the preschoolers had the chance to break a real Taekwondo board… and they did an incredible job! Their smiles and excitement said it all. 🎉

Thank you so much to everyone at Giraffe Laugh Learning Center for inviting us. We had an amazing time and loved sharing the life lessons of Taekwondo with your students!

Yesterday, we celebrated the birthday of someone who means so much to our MKTKD family!

Master Bae genuinely loves and cares for every student who walks through our doors. She brings incredible energy, passion, and heart to every single class, making each student feel valued, encouraged, and capable of achieving more than they ever thought possible.

Whether she’s celebrating a student’s success, helping them through a challenge, or pushing them to become their very best, Master Bae pours her whole heart into everything she does. Her kindness, enthusiasm, and unwavering dedication have impacted the lives of so many children, teens, adults, and families.

Thank you for being the amazing “Taekwondo Mom” to all of us. We are so grateful for everything you do, and our school is a better place because of you.

🌏🇰🇷 MKTKD Goes International!

One of our newest and youngest Black Belt students, Clio, is currently visiting South Korea with her family!

Thanks to Master Bae’s senior from Yong-In University, Master Park, who competed on the university’s Poomsae (Forms) Team, we were connected with Taeseong Taekwondo—one of the most elite Taekwondo schools in the world and a team renowned for developing world champions.

During her visit, Clio had the incredible opportunity to receive a special one-on-one private lesson from Master Ji, the owner and head coach of Taeseong Taekwondo. What an unforgettable experience and an amazing opportunity to learn from one of the very best!

We are so proud of how Clio represented Master Kim’s Taekwondo all the way in Korea. She demonstrated outstanding respect, focus, humility, and effort—qualities that make us incredibly proud to call her one of our Black Belts.

Amazing job, Clio! We can’t wait to hear all about your experience when you get back! 🇰🇷🥋💙

🇺🇸 Happy Independence Day from Master Kim's Taekwondo! 🥋

As we celebrate the 250th Anniversary of America, we want to wish all of our MKTKD families a safe, fun, and memorable Independence Day weekend!

📅 Holiday Closure
Our school will be closed from Wednesday, July 1st through Saturday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day.

✅ Regular classes will resume on Monday, July 6th.

We hope everyone enjoys time with family and friends, celebrates safely, and takes a moment to appreciate the freedoms and opportunities we are blessed to have.

☀️ 4th Annual MKTKD Summer Family Picnic! ☀️

A little late on the post, but a few Saturdays ago we held our 4th Annual Summer Family Picnic at beautiful Ann Morrison Park!

What an incredible and memorable day it was! We kicked things off with a fun and energetic Taekwondo class, played some awesome family games, enjoyed a special demonstration from our Demo Team and instructors, shared some delicious food, and most importantly spent quality time with the most amazing families in our MKTKD community.

One of the things we love most about our school is that we’re more than just a Taekwondo center—we’re a family. Events like these give us the opportunity to build friendships, create memories, and celebrate the incredible people who make our school so special.

Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make this year’s picnic such a success! We are so grateful for each and every one of you.

We already can’t wait for next year’s picnic! ❤️🥋☀️

Happy Father’s Day to all of the incredible dads out there! 💙

We are stronger, wiser, and better because of the fathers and father figures who support, encourage, and guide us every day. Today, we celebrate YOU!

Yesterday, we held our annual Dad & Me Bootcamp, and what an amazing day it was! During two packed sessions, students had the opportunity to train alongside their dads, break boards together, and share a special Taekwondo experience. We also read a Father’s Day Taekwondo poem and presented each dad with a special MKTKD #1 Dad hat as a small token of our appreciation.

Thank you to all of the dads who lead by example, cheer from the sidelines, help tie belts, attend classes, and support their children through every challenge and achievement. Your impact reaches far beyond the dojang.
