Everyone has a version of you living in their head and most of them are wrong.

One person remembers who you were at 16, while another remembers you at 25. Some met you during your worst season. Others only know you through a series of posts.

Different angles. Different moments. Different assumptions.

But none of them know the full picture. They only know the version of you that existed in the frame they happened to catch.

Playing infield is simple. Parents, coaches - everyone has overcomplicated it.

We add so many extra steps, cues, and technical details that kids end up thinking instead of reacting. But at its core, infield only comes down to one concept, repeated over and over:

A catch (field the ball).
A throw (to a base).
A catch (complete the out).

That’s it. That’s how you get outs as an infielder. Every ground ball, every play, every rep, it’s the same three steps.

We don’t need to make it more complicated than that. Let’s get back to basics. Let’s make infield simple again.

Make Infield Simple Again. 🧢⚾

There’s no difference between infield defense today and infield defense 30+ years ago. Guys were making the exact same plays back then that they’re making now. The only thing that’s changed is social media it’s turned defense into a highlight reel of flashy, complicated drills that look good on camera but don’t actually build real infielders. Strip all the noise away and it comes down to the same thing it’s always been: catch, throw, catch. That’s it. That’s the game. Get back to basics.

Baseball has a TEAM problem. ⚾️

Kids today are obsessed with exit velo, throwing speed, and batting average but nobody’s talking about defense anymore. Defense wins championships, not stats on a scoreboard. This generation is being raised to chase numbers instead of winning as a team.

Are we raising ballplayers or raising individual stat-chasers? Let me know your take in the comments. 👇
