nvironments. Born in Jamaica, Michael experienced firsthand the impact of disaster, displacement, and uncertainty before immigrating to the United States. At 17, he joined the United States Marine Corps, where he served as a Sergeant and Platoon Section Leader with 1st Marine Division. During combat operations in Fallujah, Iraq, he was wounded by a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED), earned the Purple Heart, and led Marines through some of the most demanding conditions imaginable. Following his military service, Michael faced another battle: navigating PTSD, traumatic brain injury, and the difficult transition from military to civilian life. Rather than allowing adversity to define him, he committed himself to understanding how people think, adapt, recover, and perform under pressure. Over the next two decades, Michael built a diverse leadership career spanning transportation, government, technology, higher education, entrepreneurship, and organizational development. He led large-scale railroad operations for Norfolk Southern, managed multimillion-dollar technology initiatives for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, served as Director of Military and Veterans Affairs at Florida Atlantic University, and helped build an INC 5000-ranked company serving residential, commercial, and government clients. Complementing his practical leadership experience, Michael earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Information Systems, an MBA in Applied Management, studied Homeland Security and Emergency Management, completed the University of Florida Veterans Entrepreneurship Program, and pursued advanced study in brain science, trauma, resilience, and human performance. Today, Michael works with executives, organizations, government agencies, universities, and leadership teams seeking to strengthen decision-making, culture, adaptability, and performance in high-pressure environments. His signature frameworks including Adversity LeadershipĀ®, Break The BottleĀ®, Protect The HouseĀ®, Leadership Re-Entryā¢, and LECQM 2.0ā¢āprovide leaders with practical systems for creating clarity, developing courage, building trust, and sustaining performance when the stakes are high. Michael's central belief is simple:

I am deeply honored to join the Making History Project as an Honorary Board Member.
I extend my sincere appreciation to founder and director Patrick Russell for inviting me to become part of this important organization. I am also grateful to the members of the Board of Directors for their warm welcome. I look forward to serving alongside this dedicated group of leaders and supporting our shared commitment to Americaās veterans.
The Making History Project is a Florida nonprofit organization dedicated to recording and preserving veteransā stories through video oral history interviews. These interviews are shared with veterans and their families and permanently archived with the U.S. Library of Congress and the University of Florida Samuel Proctor Oral History Program for future generations.
As a Purple Heart U.S. Marine Corps combat veteran, this mission is deeply personal to me. Every veteran has a story that deserves to be heard, honored, and preserved. These stories are not only part of our familiesā histories. They are part of our nationās history.

š¢āļø One last summer adventure before the school year begins!
This weekend, our family, Courtney, Omar, and I, had an incredible time at Universal Studios Orlando with our great friends, Richard, Lisa, Eli, and Jalisa Williams. From thrilling rides and nonstop laughs to unforgettable memories, it was the perfect way to wrap up summer before the kids head back to school.
Life moves fast, and moments like these remind us how important it is to slow down, enjoy the journey, and spend quality time with the people who matter most. We're grateful for the friendship, the laughter, and the memories we'll be talking about for years to come. It was the perfect way to close out an amazing summer.
Here's to a successful school year for all of our kids and to many more adventures together!

You can perform under pressure and still be carrying something that never got addressed.
That's the truth I brought to Episode 396 of The Fraternity Foodie Podcast.
Mike Ayalon asked me about the intersection of military service, Greek life, and campus leadership, and what I shared was simple: The skills transfer. The trauma often travels with them.
I've spent years building real pathways between veterans and the communities waiting to receive them. Not because it's a good story. Because the cost of not building them is too high.
Pressure into purpose isn't a tagline.
It's a system.
Coming home isn't the end of the battle.
For most veterans, it's where the hardest one begins.
I sat with Ryan Pyle https://www.youtube.com/ and we talked for hours. No script. No agenda. Just a man who asked the right questions and gave me the room to answer honestly.
I shared things I rarely say in one conversation:
Surviving a hurricane in Jamaica. Arriving in America at seven with nothing familiar. Finding the Marines when I was searching for something I couldn't name. Fallujah. The loss of my best friend. A bridge. A decision.
And what happened after I chose to stay.
