Alabama Ballet School

Broadway is coming to the barre! 🎭 Alabama Ballet School welcomes Terrance Martin for a master class — Saturday, Sept. 26 at 9:00-10:30(Ages 9-12) + 10:30-12:00(Ages 13+).

Terrance is currently a Dance Captain/Swing on the Philip Tour of Hamilton: An American Musical, with credits across the Angelica, Philip, and International Tours, plus The Little Mermaid (Sebastian), My Fair Lady, Mamma Mia, and West Side Story. A B.F.A. graduate of The University of the Arts, he's performed work by Ronald K. Brown, Camille A. Brown, Earl Mosley, and Ronen Koresh, and has taught master classes around the world.

Now he's teaching ours. 🩰 This class is open to the public!

⏰ LAST CALL — REGISTRATION CLOSES TOMORROW AT NOON ⏰ Alabama Ballet is one of only a handful of companies in the world licensed to perform George Balanchine's The Nutcracker® — and our Youth Cast performs it live, on stage, alongside Birmingham's professional ballet company.

If your dancer wants to audition for the Youth Cast of George Balanchine's The Nutcracker®, tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. is the cutoff. After that, registration closes for the year.

There is NO walk-up registration this Sunday.

✨ RAISING THE BARRE: FROM STUDIO TO STAGE ✨

What happens when a young dancer’s dreams take them from the studio to the world’s greatest stages? On September 25, Alabama Ballet School students and their families will have an incredible opportunity to experience an intimate evening with Skylar Brandt, Principal Dancer with American Ballet Theatre! 🩰

Students will be able to:
✨ See Skylar perform
💬 Hear about her journey from student to professional dancer
🩰 Ask questions about training, discipline, challenges, and life as a professional dancer

For our youngest dancers, it’s a chance to see what may be possible. For our older students, it’s an opportunity to learn from an artist working at the highest level of the profession. And for our families, it’s a special evening to come together around the art our students work so hard to pursue.

Our Parent-Child Creative Movement Class is a joyful introduction to movement designed for little ones ages 2–3 and their grown-ups. Through music, imaginative play, and creative movement, children can explore, build confidence, and experience the joy of dance alongside someone they love.

This week, our Day Program dancers have the exciting opportunity to work with Alabama Ballet company dancer Michael Matthews, who is choreographing an original contemporary piece on the dancers for our upcoming performance at Vulcan! ✨

What a special opportunity for our dancers to learn from and collaborate with one of our professional artist! 🩰

Ending summer so proud of our students who spent their summers working hard in Intensive programs! From Boston Ballet, CPYB, SAB, and Houston Ballet, all the way back home to Alabama Ballet, these students gave it their all. We are so happy to have them back in our studios 🩰💖

Please join us in welcoming our 2026/2027 Day Program students, who began their season today. 🩰

Some are returning for another year while some are new to the program. All of them will spend the months ahead training in ballet technique, pointe, variations, partnering, contemporary, conditioning, and repertoire. Along the way they’ll perform in community engagements, in school productions, and alongside our professional company with opportunities to compete as well.

We’re looking forward to watching this group grow this season! ⭐️
