The inaugural Birmingham Football Classic is officially in the books!

Alabama State University came out on top with a 30–17 victory over Southern University, but the excitement went far beyond the final score. From the energy in the stands to the action on the field, Legion Field was the place to be!

Thank you to the fans, teams, staff, partners and everyone who helped make the first Birmingham Football Classic a success. 🙌🏾
This was only the beginning! We’re already looking ahead to next year and continuing to build an even bigger and better experience for our fans.

Legends at Legion Field Battle of the Bands is canceled for Sunday, August 30, 2026. All refunds will be issued.

An Important Update on Legends at Legion Field

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the cancellation of the Legends at Legion Field Battle of the Bands, scheduled for August 30 at Historic Legion Field.

Despite tremendous effort and the belief of so many, ticket sales and sponsorship funding did not reach the level required to produce this event at the standard our HBCU bands deserve. Rather than deliver anything less than excellent, we made the difficult decision to cancel.

All ticket purchases will be refunded in full. [Refunds will be issued automatically to your original method of payment — no action is needed on your part.]

To our band directors, students, partners, and every person who purchased a ticket and believed in this vision — thank you. This is not the end of the story. We remain committed to celebrating the sound and legacy of HBCU marching bands, and we look forward to the day we can do it right.

🚨 UPDATED LEGION FIELD STADIUM CLEAR BAG POLICY 🚨

Heading to an upcoming event at Legion Field? Before you arrive, make sure you’re familiar with our updated Clear Bag Policy and Prohibited Items list to help make entry as smooth as possible.

✅ Approved clear bags must be no larger than 12” x 12” x 6” and made of clear plastic, vinyl or PVC. One-gallon clear resealable plastic storage bags are also permitted.

👛 Non-clear bags must be 4” x 6” or smaller. Exceptions will only be made for medically necessary items following inspection by security personnel.

🚫 Be sure to review the Prohibited Items list before heading to the stadium. Prohibited items discovered during security inspections must be returned to your vehicle or discarded and cannot be left at the gate.

🎒 BACK TO SCHOOL RECAP! ✏️📚

East Pinson Valley Recreation Center helped local students start the school year ready for success during its Back to School Drive on August 15!

Families joined us for a day of community, fun and giving back as school supplies were distributed to help students prepare for the year ahead.

A special thank you to everyone who contributed, volunteered and came out to support the event. Your participation helped make the day a success and showed what can happen when our community comes together for Birmingham’s youth.
