Something big just happened, Birmingham. 🩰

Our co-director Taylor Ostronic just completed the Affiliate Training and Assessment Programme (ATAP) intensive in London — and is now pursuing full affiliation with one of the world's leading institutions in dance training research.

What does this mean for Birmingham? It means Gradient dancers will soon have access to the same holistic training system used by the Royal Ballet School — one that prioritizes creativity, repertoire appreciation, and the process of learning over performance outcomes alone. ATAP is an innovative alternative to syllabus-based models, equipping teachers to guide and assess a broad range of students to learn how to learn, and to enjoy and value the process.

And here's what makes it a perfect fit: the Royal Ballet School believes that bodies of all ages and abilities bring value and enrichment to dance — the same belief Gradient was built on.

Expect more creative opportunities, richer class experiences, and a Gradient that just leveled up. 💙

Who put whales in a cathedral and why did nobody tell us sooner. 🐋

Before heading to London for teacher training with the Royal Ballet, our co-director Taylor made a stop at the Ocean Photographer of the Year exhibition at Lichfield Cathedral in Staffordshire, UK — co-presented by Oceanographic Magazine and . Giant whales suspended from cathedral ceilings, neon ocean photography, stained glass light pouring through it all. For the woman who just brought ocean conservation to a Birmingham stage with Watermark, this was exactly where she needed to be.

She’s back now, and we have a feeling London left its mark. More soon. ✨
