A simple twist of perspective from "I" to "you" spoken with intention and love can change..... everything!

"In 1992, a small group of people volunteered to live in total isolation for thirty days.
No phones.
No voices.
No letters.
Just silence.

What happened next surprised everyone.

1.) After just one week, most participants began to break.
Speech slowed. Sleep fragmented. Stress hormones spiked.
But a few became calmer, clearer, and strangely grounded inside themselves.

2.) They weren’t “stronger” personalities or more extroverted minds.
Psychologists later described them as self-dialogic.
Instead of thinking “I can handle this,” they spoke to themselves as “you.”
“You can handle this.”
That shift created inner companionship, as if a steady presence lived inside their mind.

3.) Brain scans later explained why.
Using “you” activated the same neural networks involved in real social connection.
The brain interpreted solitude as support, not abandonment.
Those who spoke only in “I” slowly slipped into emotional isolation.

4.) This discovery later influenced astronaut and submarine training.
Recruits are taught to narrate actions aloud, coaching themselves as they would another person.
It keeps the emotional brain regulated and motivation stable, even in long periods of silence.

5.) Try it today.
When exhaustion hits, don’t say “I’m done.” Say “You’re tired, but you’ll finish.”
It may feel unusual at first, until your nervous system realizes it isn’t alone.

When you lose connection with that inner voice, direction fades.
And if life has felt noisy lately, full of other people’s expectations, opinions, and pressure, it might not be motivation you need.

It might be reconnection.

Your most powerful support system isn’t external. It’s the way you speak to yourself when no one is watching."

Does this resonate for you? We should talk. You are on the right track... AND will likely need support to for what you've experienced.

Some mornings I wake up accused.

My heart has a courtroom already assembled as the accuser reads old charges. Shame drags old evidence across the floor. The hardest part is how often it sounds like my own voice.

Then Romans 8 speaks over the room.

“The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ.”

Child of God…heir of God…fellow heir with Christ.

Before the world could measure you, the Father had already claimed you. The accuser may know your past, but he does not own your future.

So breathe, weary saint.

In Christ, child is your name, inheritance is your future and the Father’s house is your home.

God has spoken over you. Believe Him.

Really let that sink in. God didnt just send Abraham. He sent him AND told him to leave his family-- and all they told him about himself-- behind while going.

He struggled with that.
We struggle with that.

Yet the promise remains... in the overcoming.

Life is a lot of grief but the amount of grief that you experience also creates a deeper well for joy in your life. Healing creates that well and joy becomes your reward for doing the work. This perspective allows you to share that healing with others --- even in the midst of your own grief.
