the middle of the lake paid off yesterday! We started slow at 6:45 AM, but once the wind picked up, the pink flicker shads were on fire. Ended with 14 landed and kept one. What's your go-to lure when the wind kicks in?

Look at all these tiny swimmers! Nature is really showing off today. Can you guess what these little guys will grow up to be?

The heat has pushed the trout down to the dam. They're suspending about 10 to 15 feet deep, so slip bobbers are the best bet to keep your bait in the zone. Powerbaits, nightcrawlers, and floating trout worms are all getting action.
Boaters are having quite a bit of luck trolling with 2 to 3 colors of leadcore, too. Small spoons in reds, pinks, and coppers have been very effective. Alternatively, tie a Flicker Shad or Harvest Shad onto your mono setup and hang on.
Panfish are showing in good numbers in shallow structure. Small paddle tails will catch them along with some of the bass that share their habitat. Mini jigs are also a great way hook up. Hang them below a rocket bobber to increase casting distance and keep them out of the grass.
If you haven't tried catching a carp with hook and line before, now is a great time to give it a shot. Stop by the shop for some boilies and pre-tied hair rigs, and get ready for a fight!
Fix your casting in seconds. Most people think more power equals more distance, but it's actually about tip speed. A quick flick of the wrist gives you the speed and precision you've been looking for. Ready to try this on your next trip?
Instinct or Intelligence? You decide. We've all seen carp turn their noses up at a perfect presentation. Are they just slippery, or are they learning our every move? Drop a '🧠' if you think carp are geniuses or a '🐟' if it's just pure instinct!
New restock on the way from MJM Customs!
Understanding trout depth is the secret to a successful day on the lake. What's the one factor you always check before casting?
Happy Birthday America!
We wish you and your families a safe and happy Fourth of July! Happy Fishing Day!
Last week’s winds and cold nights dropped the lake temperature several degrees. That’s great news for all the trout fisherman out there! The bigger ones have started biting again down near the dam. Slip bobbers set between 10 and 15 feet with nightcrawlers, Powerbaits, or floating trout worms are a top choice for both boaters and shore anglers. Trolling with 2 to 3 colors of leadcore is also getting the job done. The middle of the day is actually the best time to get bit right now, but the evening brings some opportunity to catch them on spoons and spinners higher in the water column.
The bass are avoiding the midday heat by hanging back in the shadows under docks and bushes. Weedless presentations such as Texas rigs and swim jigs are necessary to reach them. Once the sun dips behind the tops of the trees switch it up to a popper, whopper plopper, or other topwater technique.
The catfish aren’t shy. They’re eagerly eating mackerel and shrimp 2 or 3 feet off the bottom in the warm, shallow flats. They’ve even been known to take the bait during the fireworks!
Have a safe and fun-filled weekend!
