I’m constantly amazed by the mastery of Khalil Mack. Movement starts from the inside out—and that’s not something I had to teach him. It was already there.
This is what Contrology looks like: movement driven from the center, with every part of the body connected and purposeful. Khalil applies that principle to every movement discipline he trains in.
Watch for the moment I cue him to “spread your arms like wings.” Instantly, his arms connect to his back. No overthinking. No forcing. Just intelligent movement.
One of the greatest gifts of my career is teaching an elite athlete like Khalil Mack and a 96-year-old client on the very same day. Both remind me that great movement isn’t about age or ability—it’s about awareness.
Stay curious. Keep refining. And never lose the joy of movement.
I hope you will join me for one of my immersive workshops this summer. I am sharing the Bodyline method how I take traditional Pilates and evolve it to meet the needs of today’s clients .

Bodyline Pilates
Bodyline Pilates of Beverly Hills is the nations premier Pilates teacher training and Pilates teacher certification program.
Bodyline Pilates is LA's premier Pilates Certification studio. We offer year round courses for Pilates Instructors. Bodyline Pilates Certification is accepted nationwide and highly recognized by Pilates Method Alliance. Master Pilates Instructor, Maria Leone, was recently featured in Pilates Style Magazine and a featured trainer on Pilates Anytime.
We don’t always speak in technical anatomy terms—but understanding the basics matters. Knowing the primary muscles and actions in all directions (like shoulder abduction/adduction or scapular upward/downward rotation) gives you a deeper lens into what’s actually happening inside the body. It’s easy for this part to feel intimidating—even for experienced instructors—but that’s exactly why we practice it. The goal isn’t to overwhelm, it’s to build clarity and confidence. During the Bodyline Lens immersive weekend, I’ll guide you through how to see, understand, and apply anatomy to real Pilates exercises. Make it make sense for you.

The Bodyline Lens Immersive weekend —a course designed to shift the way you think about teaching. This isn’t about how a class looks, it’s about how you intentionally design the experience to get there. You’ll learn how to build challenging, purposeful classes that are progressive, effective, and rooted in real traditions—not trends. Open to both new and seasoned teachers, this course invites you to come in curious. Because at the end of the day, it’s about our clients—and when you understand the why behind what you teach, you don’t have to fake it till you make it. We’ll also look at new TRAIN YOUR EYE®️footage and deconstruct anatomy and apply it Pilates exercises

Why does the Pilates industry keep insisting you have to pick a side?
The truth is, we’ve always been divided.
Even during Joseph Pilates’ lifetime, the work began to evolve. The teachers who came after him each left their own fingerprint on the method. Some emphasized precision. Others brought in influences from dance, rehabilitation, or their own movement backgrounds. Evolution isn’t new—it’s always been part of the story.
Today’s divide just looks different.
One camp believes anything outside Joseph’s original repertoire isn’t Pilates. The other teaches fitness on a reformer with little connection to the principles that made Pilates so brilliant in the first place.
After more than 30 years of teaching, I refuse to choose a side.
I believe you can honor Joseph’s work while also teaching the body in front of you. You can preserve the essence of the method without treating it like a museum piece. You can innovate without abandoning the principles that make Pilates… Pilates.
That’s exactly why I created the Bodyline Method.
These two immersive workshops aren’t about memorizing more exercises. They’re about building a teaching method—a framework that helps you blend tradition, modern movement science, and intelligent programming into one cohesive system that feels authentic to you.

Certification teaches you what to teach. Continuing education should teach you how to think.
My continuing education is built around two immersive workshops designed for teachers who want to refine their craft—not just collect more exercises.
Each workshop includes 12 hours of in-person learning plus 4 hours of on-demand education. Together we’ll explore how to break down and vary exercises, cue with greater clarity, and Train Your Eye®️ to see what truly matters. In The Bodyline Lens, we’ll also dive into programming and class design so you can build stronger, more purposeful sessions.
Expect challenging workouts, teaching drills, real discussion, and plenty of personal attention. The goal isn’t performance—it’s developing a method of teaching that you can rely on every time you step into the studio.

If you’re ready to go beyond choreography and become a more thoughtful, skillful teacher, I’d love to work with you.
Corkscrew is one of those exercises that just doesn’t click right away—and that’s okay. This video is less about doing it perfectly and more about seeing the process. Chelsea is a beautiful mover, and I’m helping her find her center as she rolls down through one hip. She picks it up quickly, but that’s not always how it goes—and that’s exactly why this is worth watching. That’s the real work. Watch it a few times, try it in your own body, and bring it into your teaching. Share it with someone who’s working through this too. Mat 1 is next weekend July 10-12 with Colette and Miku—come join us in person or virtually. Link in bio.

…………….
How do you know when a teacher is being too picky… or just right? From my experience, it shows up in how adaptable they are. I can spot a picky teacher when they’re closed-minded—locked into one way of doing things, unable to adjust to the person in front of them. They’re often incredibly passionate, which I respect. But that passion can turn into stubbornness, where there’s no room to meet the client—just a fixation on doing it “right.” Good teaching leaves space. It adapts. It sees effort and builds on it. Because at the end of the day, it’s simple - Did you actually like the session?

Even if you never intend to teach Mat, studying it will deepen both your Reformer teaching and your own practice.
As you begin to understand the Mat work and how it relates to the Reformer, you’ll start to see that Pilates is truly a system. Every apparatus builds on the others, and that realization naturally makes you want to explore them all. That is the beauty of our craft.
This isn’t just a collection of random exercises or choreography. It’s an intelligent movement system where we are constantly changing our relationship to gravity, support, and our own body weight.
Many people mistakenly think Mat is the easiest part of Pilates because there are no springs or equipment. In reality, it’s just you and your body. Seasoned teachers know that Mat is some of the most demanding work there is—and understanding it will make you a better teacher on every apparatus.
