Yesterday we lost a legend — and I lost a friend.

Tommy John wasn't just one of the toughest, smartest pitchers to ever take the mound — 288 wins, four All-Star nods, and a surgery that bears his name and has saved the careers of countless athletes who came after him. He changed the game, literally.

But long before I knew him as "Tommy John, baseball legend," I knew him as Tommy — He was from my home state of Indiana and a superstar with my favorite team growing up, the Chicago White Sox. And then to represent him and call him a friend was truly an honor for me.

He was generous with his time, quick with a story, and genuinely cared about the people around him. Working with him for as long as I did was a true privilege.

Rest easy, Tommy. Thank you for the friendship, the stories, and everything you gave to this game. My heart goes out to his family.

The Butkus Foundation has announced the preseason watch list for the 42nd annual Butkus Award®, honoring the nation’s top collegiate linebacker and carrying forward the legacy of Dick Butkus and his iconic No. 51.

This year’s 51-player watch list represents 42 colleges and universities across the country, featuring returning All-Americans, All-Conference performers, and emerging defensive standouts who embody the toughness, instincts, leadership, competitiveness, and football character that defined one of the greatest linebackers in football history.

More than six decades after Dick Butkus established his legacy at the University of Illinois and throughout his Hall of Fame NFL career, the Butkus Award remains one of college football’s most respected individual honors.

The Foundation will also continue its Takes Heart™ partnership with Carle Illinois College of Medicine, featured during the annual Butkus Award television special on the Big Ten Network. Inspired by Dick Butkus’ own experience with heart disease, Takes Heart promotes cardiovascular screening, early detection, education, and prevention—extending his legacy well beyond the football field.

The 2026 Butkus Award® semifinalists will be announced October 28, finalists November 20, and the winner during the week of December 7.

A new era of WOW – Women Of Wrestling is about to begin.

WOW is bringing Season 5 to L.A. LIVE for its first-ever LIVE broadcast, marking a major milestone for the women’s wrestling organization and its growing global audience.

The new season will also see WOW co-owner Jeanie Buss take on an expanded on-camera role, bringing a new dimension to the next chapter of WOW.

From the ring to a new live stage, Season 5 represents another step forward for a brand continuing to make its mark in women’s sports and entertainment.

July 24 is Amelia Earhart ’s birthday. Amelia Earhart discovered a serious interest in aviation after attending a stunt-flying exhibition. Once Earhart was taken for a ride by a pilot, Frank Hawks, she knew she had to fly.

Earhart defied conventional feminine behavior and kept a documented collection of newspaper clippings of successful women in predominantly male-oriented fields. After completing her studies, Earhart began her first flying lesson on January 3, 1921 and six months later bought her own plane. Seven years later she was asked to be the first Women and second person to fly solo across the Atlantic.

As Earhart's last mission, she was set on flying across the world. Earhart had the most expensive search in Naval history but she was no where to be found. Earhart passed while doing what she loved and showed the world her how brave and courageous she is.

Levi's ’s Vintage Clothing recreated the iconic leather jacket worn for decades by Albert Einstein - a piece he purchased in the mid-1930s during his early years in the United States.

From his 1938 TIME magazine cover to Lotte Jacobi’s famous portrait, the jacket became part of Einstein’s unmistakable image. In 2016, Levi Strauss & Co. acquired the original at Christie’s London for £110,500, later inspiring a series of limited LVC reproductions.

The late 2025 reissue, limited to only 800 hand-numbered pieces worldwide, was handcrafted in Italy with full-grain sheep leather, brass side buckles, and archival-inspired details.
