The new Pinarello bikes are starting to trickle in! This X5 "all road" model just hit the shop floor. Glamour shots and full specs to follow; for now y'all college football fans can revolt in "Carolina Blue" test ride pedals on a "Duke Blue Devils" frame. North Carolina, c'mon and raise up, take your shirt off, and twist it 'round your hand, spin it like a helicopter.

With the drop in humidity, we are getting into some primo riding conditions: not too hot, not too cold, little wind. Gravel Dengerates x Gravel Wars ride rolls tonight 6:19 PM from Healthy Habits. This ride will follow the new format; A/B groups will ride out together at B pace until regrouping at mile 9, A group will then go, after a delay to discourage chasing, B will go. C Group remains unchanged and is a "no drop" ride. Helmet and lights required, don't forget to charge because it will be dark on the way home. Been longing to get out on a group gravel ride but haven't yet taken the plunge? This is the perfect time of year--the winds have died down and the heat has let off the gas. Tuesday Night Gravel takes off again tomorrow night from Healthy Habits at 6:19 PM. Join us for the first night of the new format: the Tuesday Night Gravel Degenerates Ride is collabing with Thursday Night Gravel Wars for an all paces group ride. That's right, Tuesday night will now feature a Jeff sanctioned and approved A group! Both A and B groups will roll out together and average 14-16 MPH for the first ten miles or so, at that point the groups will split and the A group is free to light it up. Riders on the fence are encouraged to go with the A group and hang as long as possible, if dropped they will be swept up by the B group in time. The B group will let the A group go up the road for a bit as to discourage chasers from blowing up the B ride. The B group will average 14-16 MPH. The C group remains unchanged: 12-14 MPH and no drop. We hope by implementing these changes to the ride, we grow the group and encourage those who want to be pushed a little bit farther whether it be jumping from B to A or C to B, to go for it. We also want to maintain the speeds of the B group as was intended (social and fun) and make it less intimidating.

Reminder, the days are getting shorter so riders will need front and rear lights. Please stay to the right cresting hills; we are into harvest season which means farm equipment on the country roads. As always, helmets required.

A Route: 36 mi/18-20+ MPH https://strava.app.link/tDNMKNZt35b
B Route: 27 mi/14-16 MPH https://strava.app.link/0frtDuUt35b
C Route: 24 mi/12-14 MPH https://strava.app.link/f3T3tQ2t35b

Let's talk about mashups; in music you have the obvious ones--Queen and David Bowie, Dre and Snoop, but how about Wyclef and Kenny Rogers? Carly Simon and Mick Jagger? Prince and Steve Windwood? In true gravel fashion (minus the omission of vowels), the Gravel Degenerates of Tuesday night will joining forces with the Gravel Wars of Thursday night for an all-paces Tuesday Night Gravel! That's right, the Tuesday Night Ride will now feature an A group to go along with the B and C groups you know and love.

What's new? The pointy-end of the ride will no longer have a speed limit; this will now be the "A group". Typically, the Thursday night squad has averaged 18-20 MPH, but as the season progressed and folks got fitter, riders are going 20+. Be prepared. The B group will now roll out with the A group, and for the first ten-ish miles, will hold a 14-16 MPH pace to keep the groups together. After that, gloves are dropped and the A group is off-leash. Riders from the B group are encouraged to hang with the A group until dropped; they then can slow roll, be caught by the B group, and ride in together. The C group is unchanged: 12-14 MPH/NO DROP and feature slightly shorter, less challenging routes than the A/B groups.

We hope this collab will foster growth in both community and competition. See you there!
