🥇 at the .

Every year I fail to register for this race despite it being a must on my calendar - again and again, 1000+ riders are faster at registering than I am.

The course is a very challenging (& beautiful) mix of punchy gravel roads & doubletrack that vary extremely in how recently they’ve been maintained… 🤠

After a dusty start, I came out of the first 18km technical sector with & .carlyle. But we quickly got caught by a fast charging chase group of 12, including all the favourites.

After some disorganized group riding, got into his C.H. KOM pace right at the bottom of the longest climb of the day, to blow the group apart. I added a little sprinkle over the top & found myself, by myself, with 70km to go… 💀

With most of the technical sectors still to come I was confident going solo was a good enough move, but made sure it wasn’t. He quickly came back on me and despite having the edge on every technical sector, he kept pushing harder on the pedals and was able to bring me back every time.

In the end, Kaleb and I sprinted for the win & I got the best of him. I am satisfied with the way I raced, and feel like mentally & strategically I executed very well. I clearly did not have the upper hand physically in the latter half, maybe from pushing the pace too hard early on, or maybe because I don’t have a past career in speed skating… 👏

8th at . Proud of how I prepared and showed up on race day. I had a clear strategy to deal with the fact that most of the top riders had teammate(s), but in the end, following it strictly turned out not to be the right call. I would have preferred to be closer to the top step for sure, but overall I’m satisfied to come home with a decent result.

Ouff, what a memorable day at this year’s .bike. The dynamic course mix with a very strategic lead group made it such a fun day out here. Congrats for the win. 👏

Merci pour ton implication dans le sport depuis toutes ces années. Tu continues à avoir un impact tellement positif sur ma carrière d’athlète (maintenant 9 ans que tu me commandites) et, avec tout l’effort que toi et Lise avez mis pour rendre cette levée de fonds (& gros fun) possible, tu continues à être un leader dans l’agencement des affaires et du sport.

Not much more to say that I already stated in my race report. I analyzed the numbers and I'm even less confident that the early breakaway was a good idea with the strong headwind… 😅 Anyways, I'm still very satisfied with my effort out there.

Thank you to the organization for listening to us and going back to a start/finish in downtown Steamboat & having a long & stunning loop 🤩 (not laps). I also wanted to mention how safe it felt out there — not sure how they pull it off, but it was great.
