At the end of an incredible day at the Montane Adventure Race the finish line was busy with teams arriving and celebrating.
The sunset at the Kobæk Strand Hotel & Konference was spectacular and the welcome at the finish line included champagne for the teams, photography, and everything a tired racer could hope for.
The Sq**rt Cycling Products bikewash station was busy, there was a tasty meatball meal available in the restaurant and all of the teams were already checked into their rooms and had ample space to sort out their gear on the balconies and lawns.
The Kobæk Strand Hotel & Konference has been the pefect HQ for the European Championship and caring hosts, looking after the racers and volunteers.
And they will continue to be through the night as more and more teams reach the finish line they've strived for and receive the welcome they deserve.

ARWS European Championship 2026. 🏆
The race is over. But the story doesn’t end here. 📸
Here’s what 33 to 48 hours of racing looked like:
📍 19 stages, 11 TA’s, 147 CP’s
🏃 54km running
🚴 253km mountain biking
🛶 14km canoeing
🚣 18km kayaking
🧗 17km coasteering
➕ Swimming, diving, abseiling and tree climbing
50 teams, 17 nations, 200 people crazy enough to be this adventurous!
Rankings are still being evaluated. But one thing we know for sure - every single one of these athletes is an absolute racer. 💪
And we heard it from so many teams this weekend - the activities, the stages, the challenges. All of it. That was the goal all along: push people to their limits while making sure they were having the time of their lives. Judging by the smiles at the finish line — mission accomplished.

And completing the podium - third place. 🥉
But this isn’t just any third place finish.
This team is part of Danish adventure racing history. For years they were the benchmark — the team every Danish racer chased, the favourites nobody could beat. Then life happened, and they stepped away from the sport for a few years.
Until they heard the European Championship was coming to Denmark.
That was reason enough to come back. 🇩🇰
25+ years of experience. A few years away. One reunion race on home soil.
And they finished third at the European Championship.
Finishing just 1 hour and 17 minutes behind the winners — and still 1.5 hours ahead of when we expected the first team to finish.
Welcome back. What a comeback. 🏁🇩🇰❤️

And for the team that pushed all the way to the finish in second place… 🥈
It didn’t come without challenges. Imagine racing for 33 hours at this pace — with a twisted ankle from the very first stage. That’s exactly what one of their team members did. No excuses. Just kept moving. 💪
Racing for over 33 hours and finishing only 9(!!) minutes behind the winners? That is an incredible performance.
Your country couldn’t be more proud.🇩🇰
Although they’re Danish, even they discovered parts of their own country they had never seen before. This course had something new for everyone.
And the first thing they did when they crossed the finish line was walk straight over to the winning team and shake their hands. 🤝
That tells you everything you need to know about these racers.
Well done. Every single step was earned. 🏁
Stort tillykke med andenpladsen!
