Freshman Goalie Gabby Thompson got her second shutout of the young season with a 0-0 tie today. There wasn't a ton of offense today, but Thompson was required to make six saves. Both Bensalem and CRS were held to only one corner. Defensively, in front of Thompson, Freshman CeCe Barton continues to shine, with help from Sophia Gross, Mackenzie Brown and Gianna Naples. Freshman Leona Xiao played really well today too.
Midfielders Averie Ly and Rowan O'Neil played outstanding today and were rewarded with the Outstanding Owl Awards.

The Bensalem Owls lost to CRS today 2-1 on a controversial goal scored with just 1:05 remaining in overtime.
CRS scored early in the first quarter just two and a half minutes into the game. Bensalem returned the favor in the second. Junior Reese Sayers unloaded a devastating backhand from the right side of the circle, the rebound came off of the South goalie, right to a waiting Lily Lendzinski who deposited it into the back of the cage. That score held all the way through regulation. In overtime , with just 1:05 left, CRS had a breakaway from just inside the 25. The South striker dribbled and shot. Bensalem goaltender Hailey Fricke had to go down to make the save, she did, and then the South striker fell over and on top of Fricke. The out of position umpire ruled a penalty stroke which was scored into the right side of the cage. It was a game-deciding call, one which I thought was incorrect. It was a great game, action on both sides, it should not have ended like that.
Fricke played well all night and the defense in front of her, led by Abby Cheung, Veronica Lennon, Lexi Hartman, and Reagan Colgan stepped up. There was solid midfield play throughout the game supplied by the Sayers sisters, Reese and Tierney, and Anjali Guda. Paige Dando ruled the middle of the field as she often does. Freshman Paige Pressler and Sophomore Emma Welsford filled in at midfield without missing a beat.
Our two forward lines have been rolling and just missing on opportunities. They are starting to connect and starting to know where their teammates are. There were plenty of chances by the aforementioned Lendzinski, Mollie Reilly, Kylie Blank, Leah Vorgity, Ava Grayo, and Freshman Mackenzy Leasher. The goals will come, I promise!

Bensalem Owls Junior Varsity got pulled over today. After starting the season off with a 3-0-1 record and outscoring their opponents 13-3, the Owls lost to the Pennsbury Falcons today. The final score was 3-2. Bensalem held possession in most of the game but faltered on a couple rushes from the Falcons. The Falcons started the scoring off with just 28 seconds left in the first quarter. Those last minute goals can either break you or make you. Both teams traded goals in the 3rd quarter with Bensalem getting their goal on Freshman Cameron Raiten's first goal of the season. Cameron was in the right spot at the right time with an assist from Darcy Leslie. It was Leslie's first assist of the season to go along with 3 goals. Sophomore Kylee Wenig scored her 2nd of the year unassisted with just 29 seconds left in regulation.

The Bensalem Owls ran into a buzzsaw today losing to Pensbury 8-3. Kylie Blank scored on a bullet into the left side of the frame off a corner, assisted by Paige Dando in the first to tie the game at one. That lead only lasted about 3 minutes as Pennsbury got another one. Pennsbury got their third with just 1:39 remaining in the first quarter, making it a 3-1 game heading into the second. With 6:59 remaining in the second quarter Pennsbury scored their first of four in about four minutes time. That's exactly where the game was lost. Pennsbury got another one in the third and it was an 8-1 game. Bensalem did battle back getting 2 goals in the fourth quarter. Freshman Mackenzy Leasher, who has been playing top quality minutes for the Owls in the first 5 games got her first varsity goal with an assist from Ava Grayo. That was Leashers first goal of the season to go along with Grayo's first assist. Paige Dando added to her season by scoring her second of the year, with another assist from Grayo. Dando buried one into the back of the cage after a deflection off of a Pennsbury defender. Dando had been sitting out for most of the first half when she took a stick to the back of the leg. Defender Abby Cheung also missed some time due to a stick to the mouth in the second half. Freshman goaltender Gabby Thompson came in midway through the game for her first varsity minutes. Both Leasher and Thompson recieved their first Outstanding Owls awards for their firsts today.
