⚠️West Bend Trail Closure Update

🟢Duodenum has reopened. With this change, there are now currently no trail closures in the West Bend area at this time.

Temporary trail closures are likely to begin again later this fall once weather and fire conditions moderate and vegetation management work resumes in the area.

‼Persistent hot temperatures, low relative humidity and breezy conditions have dried both dead and live vegetation out to conditions typically experienced much later in the summer. Under elevated conditions, new wildfire starts are likely to rapidly grow and resist control.

⚠Help firefighters by preventing human-caused wildfires! Stage 2 public use fire restrictions are in effect across Central Oregon public lands.

🟢Sector 16 between Swede Shelter and the junction with Upper Whoops Trail
🟢Swampy-Dutchman Trail from the Dutchman Flat Trailhead east to the Swampy Lakes Trailhead
🟢Tumalo Ridge Trail from Swede Shelter north to the intersection with the Tumalo Creek Trail

The only closure that currently remains in this area at this time is:

Phil’s Area Trail Update

You may notice changes in the Phil’s trail network — a number of social trails are being decommissioned and marked with “Closed for Habitat Restoration” signs.

These unofficial trails can impact wildlife habitat, vegetation, and long-term trail sustainability. Closing and restoring them helps protect the landscape and keeps the trail system healthy for everyone.

Work is happening now, with crews actively decommissioning these trails and installing signage throughout the area.

If you’re out walking, riding, or exploring:
👉 Please respect all closure signs
👉 Stay on designated trails
👉 Help spread the word to friends, dog walkers, and other trail users

🟢FSR 41-100
