Meet Takoda,

3k-project horse

Takoda is a gorgeous paint 13yo 16H TB/QH Gelding (DNA tested) who is at DH2 on consignment and selling as a project horse. Takoda has been ridden as a ranch horse early in his life and has had experience with cows.

Takoda’s most recent owner purchased him in December as a new rider and began taking lesson with him multiple days a week. After some time off Takoda began rearing when being ridden. The current owner was extensive in making sure there was not anything physical associated with the behavior by having him vetted, lameness exam, adjusted, teeth floated ect.

We have put the first 30-days on Takoda in a complete restart and have him calmly moving forward at the walk and he has not offered a rear or buck for us. The owner would like to move on from him and place him in a home where he can continue to build on his restart, be able to be worked at least 3 days a week, and become someone’s companion. He will need a confident leader with at least intermediate riding and training skills.

We are asking 3k for him to recover some of the costs the owner has incurred in vetting and training.

Phil Haugen has over 40years of experience and his Horsemanship clinics cover the Level 1, 2 & 3 exercises that are the foundation of his “training through understanding” program and coining the term ”1% better every day”, that is used on a daily basis at our training facility from starting c**ts to conditioning seasoned horses.
Phil’s proven training methods have produced over $1 million in Equistat earnings won by the horses that have been a part of his program. These horses are not limited by discipline or age and have excelled in major barrel racing events, tie-down roping, team roping, futurities, derbies, and WNFR qualifications.

Phil believes that once a solid foundation of fundamentals is established, horses can go on to excel in any discipline. His clinics focus on establishing this foundation and working individually with each student to maximize the potential of their horse(s).
