Back 2 Basics
Establishing foundation
Building consistent positive patterns of movement
Exercise - Why
🔔Wall runs - keeping focus & consistency while battling fatigue
🔔Continuous Box Jump - build understanding of the ground contact time.
In the past I would just jump into hurdle hops. I’ve discovered that I had to teach less when starting with the continuous box jumps. Arms are clean, contact times are quick. It’s just a much smoother transition.
Andrew Mapp - TruGrit Speed
This page is for those athletes that are interested in increasing their speed & explosiveness. Hello and welcome! Ford Sports Performance in Bellevue,WA.
My name is Andrew Mapp, I’m also known as “speedmapps”! I am the Speed Director at a premier sports training facility. I’ve had the pleasure to work with 100’s of high school & collegiate athletes across an array of different sports including soccer, basketball, baseball, football, tennis, and track. As well as, professional athletes including Bobby Wagner, Richard Sherman, Budda Baker, KJ Wright,
Most underrated exercise you’re not doing!!
Seated box jumps are fantastic because taking the downwards movement (concentric) away forces athletes to focus on the hip, knee, and ankle extension. While making it easy on the joints and a great low-impact way to train explosive leg power.
If your joints and tendons need a break but you still want to train explosion and power this is the exercise you’ve been missing!

This season, I watched an athlete choose the hard road. Not for glory, not for praise, but for the pursuit of excellence itself. Since the fall, he trained with discipline, intensity, and focus knowing that everything would come down to one moment in late May.
And when that moment came, he didn’t just show up.
He made history!
36.00 in the 300 hurdles! A new 4A Washington State Meet Record!
But here’s the thing: the record is just a byproduct.
He didn’t train for the applause. He trained because he chose to.
Because he believed in sharpening every edge, mastering every step, and honoring the work even when no one was watching.
That’s what makes this special. That’s what makes him special.
Thanks for reminding me that the process is the prize:
You didn’t just run fast you ran fast fast! Lol
Congratulations on a legendary season

To my dogs,
It’s time! 9 weeks spent in the lab together. We began hopping, skipping, exchanging, jumping, sprinting—and yes, sweating—through workout after workout. Day to day, progress felt almost invisible. But week by week, you made tremendous strides—in strength, speed, and confidence—even as focus wavered and doubt, anxiety, and fear crept in.
And then came the jubilation: you showed out at your pro days and turned heads everywhere you went. Teams took notice, and you EARNED every bit of that attention.
As you move into these next crucial months, I pray for your protection and guidance. May you continue to reap the rewards of your relentless effort, and may happiness and joy follow you every step of the way.
Thank you for trusting the process—and for proving what true grit and perseverance can achieve.
