Shoutout to Hermanson Company for hosting another Heavy Metal Summer Experience camp! 👏 Thanks to partners like Hermanson, more students are getting hands-on exposure to careers in the skilled trades each year. We're proud to see them investing in the next generation of our workforce.

The Heavy Metal Summer Experience (HMSE) is back at Hermanson!

What started in 2021 as a pilot camp co-piloted by Hermanson and Western Allied Mechanical has grown into a nationwide movement. Today, HMSE includes more than 60 camps across North America and Canada.

Over the next few weeks, students will:
• Connect with industry professionals
• Visit union training centers and local shops
• Get hands-on experience in the trades

We look forward to seeing these students grow their skills, build confidence, and explore what a future in the trades can look like.

This week, we're proud to join many industry organizations — including Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association (SMACNA), Sheet Metal Air Rail and Transportation Workers (SMART), Heavy Metal Summer Experience and others — in celebrating National Careers in Trades Week!

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, skilled trades are projected to experience faster-than-average job growth through 2034, with an estimated 600,000 construction openings each year. Why? Because our industry is innovative, collaborative, fast-paced, high-paying, and makes a real impact.

At SMACNA-WW, we’re committed to bringing the highest quality workmanship to our region — and that means investing in the next generation of trade professionals. Through programs like our Executive Education Institute and other industry-leading training, we equip foremen and contractors with the skills, knowledge and leadership tools to tackle the challenges of today and prepare for the opportunities of tomorrow.
