Automator V13 & Nuthin But Sunshine V13

Had the perfect evening in lower chaos last week and ticked em both off 🥂🧚🏼‍♀️

Was a big relief after 1.5 hours sessioning it. First 10 minutes I fell on the last move and then epic after epic while humidity was high 🫣

Wrestling my way up the Wind Tower at 13,500 ft. The exposure on this arete is unbelievable.

Doubloons 5.14b First Female Ascent

The Wind Tower is located near the summit of Mt. Blue Sky, sitting at ~ 13,500 ft, this route is one of the highest sport climbs in the US (and the most epic).

Doubloons climbs the beautiful southeast arete with the left hand mostly on the sloping feature and the right hand on razor crimps. The only reprieve being a no hands rest in the middle of the route separating the two cruxes. At altitude like this, the rest was much needed to catch my breath and try to get rid of my permanent pump. On the send, I completed the redpoint crux and reached the jug undercling, but the elevation, adrenaline, and full body pump made it a true red-line effort to the chains. Bonus points for topping out the full tower!!

To approach the climb you walk across the alpine tundra and drop down through talus and scree to the base. All day long you get insane views of Mt. Bierstadt and Abyss Lake which only get more magical as the sun sets. So grateful for climbs like this where the experience is so full value.
