If you have never taken the Homestead Trail north out of Beatrice, the first few miles are an easy place to begin.

You do not have to ride all the way to Lincoln for it to count. Ride for 20 minutes, cross a bridge or two, turn around, and head home when you are ready.

The limestone surface is comfortable for many riders, and the tree cover provides a nice break from the open roads around town. September’s cooler weather makes it an especially good time to try it.

If riding a traditional bike leaves your back, hands, or seat uncomfortable, it may be time to try a different kind of bike.

The Day 6 Dream 21 is built around comfort. Instead of a traditional saddle, it has a full seat with a backrest. The forward pedal position and swept-back handlebars create a more supported, upright riding position without putting as much pressure on your hands.

This used 21-speed bike is in like-new condition and has already received a complete tune-up in our shop.

The mornings are cooler, the evenings are comfortable, and there is still enough daylight after work to get in a good ride.

Has it been a few years since you last rode a bike? The right bike can make getting started again much easier.

This used Electra Townie 7 Step-Thru is designed for a comfortable, upright ride. Its step-through frame makes getting on and off easier, while the pedal-forward design allows for comfortable leg extension and makes it easier to put your feet down when you stop.

It is in like-new condition and has already been tuned and inspected in our shop.

Harvest is just getting started, and it is also one of the best times to ride around southeast Nebraska.

The mornings are cooler, the evenings are comfortable, and the countryside is beginning to change. You will also start seeing more trucks and equipment heading to and from the fields, so stay visible and give everyone plenty of room.

Twenty five years ago today, thousands of people went to work on an ordinary Tuesday morning and never made it home. Others ran toward the buildings everyone else was running out of, and a lot of them did not come back either.

We are a small bike shop in Nebraska, a long way from any of it, and we do not have anything profound to add. What we can do is stop for a minute, remember the people who were lost, and say thank you to the firefighters, medics, and officers here at home who would run toward it tomorrow without thinking twice.

A first time e-bike rider and their son came in and put close to seventy miles on the Chief Standing Bear Trail. Eric got them set up on the right equipment before they rolled out, and the trailhead is only a few blocks from our lot, so they parked once and rode straight to it. A bike that fits is the difference between a kid who rides all fall and a kid whose bike lives in the garage. The mistake almost everybody makes is buying a size up so they can grow into it, which leaves them fighting the bike instead of riding it.

The Strider 14X we just listed on Marketplace handles the other half of that problem, which is the learning itself. It starts out as a balance bike, so your kid works out steering and balance with both feet reaching the ground and no training wheels wobbling them around, and when they are ready for the next step the included pedal kit turns it into a real pedal bike. Same bike, same fit, no second purchase. This one is used but it is in like new shape and it has already been tuned up in the shop.

Bring them in and we will size it with your kid standing right there, and we will size it again at no charge when they hit a growth spurt, which they will, probably in about ten minutes.
