I Had a trip with Eddie this morning. Last time we went out he had a 28" trout. We were going to see what he could catch today. We were going to focus on flats with deep water nearby. First place we fished we picked up quite a few drum and kept 3 keepers. We moved to another similar spot and caught a 20.5" red out of some trees. Eddie had one break off and I had one break off nearby that took one of my Lil Woodie corks π. We moved again but nothing at that spot. Came back to the trees and Eddie lost a good one that ripped drag before coming off. We started heading back and hit one last spot. We picked up a few undersized drum and then Eddie hooked up. Texas Sleigh ride!!!! Eddie had a red drag him around. It was a fat 25 inch red!!! Eddie was using one of my Old 18 Kinetic medium light rods. No problem pulling in that fat red with it. We ended the day with 2 keeper reds, and 3 keeper drum. Thanks for booking with me Eddie! Had a great time fishing with you as always! βΊοΈ

Took Robert W out to show him some spots in West Galveston Bay. Water was low. We hit the marsh first thing in the morning. It took a while but we ended up finding some reds and they were tailing. Robert hooked up with 2 but they pulled off in the thick sea grass. I hooked one and the same thing happened. We moved to a nearby reef and we were getting hits but no takers until Robert caught a keeper trout. We had some good discussions about fishing theories. Thanks for booking with me Rob! βΊοΈ

This morning I fished with HPD Officer Jeremy (August First Responder winner) and Frank (Marine Veteran) and his wife Emely. Tough day today. Took us a while to find some fish. We spotted some on the shoreline of a large back lake. A lot of the reds we saw weren't wanting live shrimp or lures. I finally figured out they wanted fresh dead under a Woodie popping cork. This area was new to Frank and Emely and this was Officer Jeremy's first time fishing out of a kayak. Fish seemed to be closer to grass and shell than anywhere else. We ended the day with 2 keeper reds. Frank lost one when his line under his popping cork popped. It got hot quick. π« . Can't wait for the fall! Thank you for your service Jeremy and Frank!!! πΊπ²

Had a trip with Andrew (Marine Veteran)today. He was my Veteran winner for August. We launched at daylight. I was hoping to find them early today but the bite didn't pick up until the tide started moving good. We fished some deep structure first and Andrew caught one keeper drum there. We moved by some trees along the shoreline but no takers. We finally went to the mouth of a small marsh and found some reds there. I hooked up with a good fish and so did Andrew. We finally got them in and mine was a 29 inch red and his was a 27 incher. We caught a few more small reds then finally caught another keeper red (24"). The bite died right after that so we headed in. I had a great time fishing with Andrew! Thank you for your service!!! πΊπ²

Had a trip with Quan today. One of my favorite customers because I love how excited he gets when he catches a good fish. π It was a tough day as far as keepers but we managed to get a couple. We had several undersized reds and drum. Not a lot of tidal movement in the morning. Started off slow then Quan hooked up with two 19 inch reds in a row. I hooked up with a 22 1/2" drum that fought like a red. We moved several times. Quan hooked up with a nice keeper red. That red was thick!!! We moved to the front of a back lake and saw several reds with their backs out of the water. Quan hooked up with one that made the water explode next to his kayak and then spit the hook. π. It was a fun trip as always with Quan Nguyen .

Went scouting today just to see what was biting. Wind forecast yesterday said it was going to be winds around 17mph today so I fished an area with some protection from the wind. I saw one of my friends/customers (Mike - Coast Guard Veteran out there). He fished with me for a bit then he went to fish a nearby marsh. First spot I hit was a reef next to a drop off. Almost my first cast, my Lil Woodie cork went down and I set the hook and felt the weight of a heavy fish. It started ripping drag and after about 10 minutes I finally got it in (21 inch sheepshead). Next cast was an 18" red. Moved to a different reef and picked up a keeper drum. Moved back to the first reef and picked up a 22" red and a 14" trout. Last reef I tried and made a cast off the reef where some bait was being hit. Popped the Lil Woodie twice and it went down. Set the hook and a 23 inch red. Not a fast and furious bite but some good fish overall. Mike had 2 reds in the marsh. It was a catch and release day for him. Thank you for your service Mike! πΊπ²ππ
