The Pool School

I’ve put this off longer than I should have because it’s hard to wrap the last 10 years into words.

Pool School is closing for good after classes this Saturday.

I’m so proud to have made a dream come true by building and growing Pool School since 2016. I moved to Baton Rouge not knowing a soul, and I created something that allowed me to meet hundreds of families and, hopefully, leave a lasting mark on their children.

I remember diving into the pool for swim practice as a teenager and thinking the water felt like home. I hope my love for swimming rubbed off on everyone I had the pleasure of teaching.

Now, a dream far greater than a business has taken over. Even though I tried to balance both, it’s time for me to focus on my family and my baby boys. God has been so good to me, opening doors that ultimately meant closing the doors of Pool School. While I’m sad this chapter is ending, I know it’s the right time.

To the families who made Pool School lessons part of your weekly routine for years, and whose children I watched grow up right before my eyes (while constantly reminding all of us that we were supposed to be swimming—not just talking and playing every class!)… you are the reason Pool School made it through the cold months, through COVID, through transitions like adding new teachers and expanding to a second class in the pool, through price increases, and even through me becoming a mom. Thank you for sticking with me through it all.

To the summer regulars I could count on like clockwork, the families who held their children’s birthday parties with us yearly, and those who simply came for a set of classes or two—thank you for trusting us to teach your children a life-saving skill and the love of swimming.

Every single one of you will be dearly missed. Thank you for making Pool School so much more than a business. It became a family and I’ll always be grateful to have had a part of your family’s lives.
