MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: ANASTASIA

Today, we’re shining our Member Spotlight on Anastasia — someone who is truly a ray of sunshine at Move Your Body Yoga.

Anastasia brings such warmth and positive energy into the studio. She is kind, encouraging, and genuinely supportive of the people practicing alongside her. Whether she’s celebrating someone else’s progress or simply showing up with that bright spirit of hers, she adds something special to our community.

And it is a sheer delight to have her on the mat with us.

In her own words:

“My name is Anastasia and I am a PhD candidate and instructor at LSU. I love the studio because of the community that has been built there and the support I feel from every single person. I know that when I come to class, not only is everyone happy to see me, but they are there to help me fill my cup and care about my health and wellness as much as I do. Every inch of progress made is celebrated by all of us.”

And that last sentence says so much about who we are.

At Move Your Body Yoga, progress belongs to the person making it — but the celebration belongs to all of us.

Today, we celebrate Anastasia and the light, encouragement, and positivity she brings into our studio.

We’re so glad you’re part of this community, Anastasia. 💚

Chair Yoga knew the assignment was 3 minutes and 30 seconds.

And right in the middle of holding that plank, one of our members said:

“Hey y’all… let’s try for FOUR minutes!” 😂We are not playing with y’all! 🎯🤣😍💯💪🏽

And just like that came the automatic nodding of heads.

Yep.
Let’s do it.
WHOOP WHOOP! 🙌🏽

Nobody asked for a meeting. Nobody needed time to think about it. 😂

And just like that, a 3:30 wall plank became a FOUR-MINUTE wall plank.

FOUR. WHOLE. MINUTES.

At the wall.
Together.
Holding strong.
And hyping each other up all the way to the finish.

Sometimes the challenge is the number on the board.

And sometimes the people beside you make you realize…

we’ve got a little more. 💪🏽🔥

This ❤️.

“Up until about a year and a half ago I had only practiced yoga a handful of times, and could maybe name a couple of poses. After turning 50 I decided to make regular exercise a priority, and on a whim went to a 5:15 a.m. Move Your Body Yoga class. I didn’t know anyone there and I am not at all a morning person. However, I immediately felt welcomed. I liked the fitness challenge, the motivating and knowledgeable instruction, and the positive vibe, so I kept going back week after week.

Here I am more than a year later brave enough to attempt some challenging poses even in the sand. Being a part of the MYBY community has helped me become stronger, healthier, and more centered. It’s also shown me I can do hard things. I’m so grateful to Kim for using her creativity and drive to envision and provide such an inspiring and supportive space.” -Gina

🌱🧘🏼‍♀️Thank you Gina Costello for trusting Move Your Body Yoga with a piece of your wellness journey. Thank you for showing up exactly as you are, being part of this community, and reminding all of us what can happen when we simply keep practicing.

And Gina… in the SAND?! Look at you! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Southern University Volleyball × Move Your Body Yoga 🏐

MATCH POINT: WELLNESS.

Southern University Women’s Volleyball officially stepped into the studio as a team today—and what a session. 🔥🧘🏾‍♀️🧘🏼‍♀️

From breathwork → movement → rest, these young women showed up ready to work, but also willing to slow down, breathe and pour something back into themselves.

Volleyball asks a tremendous amount of the body. The repeated jumping. Explosive approaches. Quick lateral movement. Diving, reaching, blocking and swinging—again and again. And underneath all of that athleticism is the need for mobility, balance, core stability, body awareness, controlled breathing and recovery.

That’s where yoga belongs in an athlete’s training toolkit.

Inside our infrared hot yoga studio, we worked on creating space through hardworking hips, shoulders and backs, challenged stability with steadfast control, connected movement to breath—and then did something athletes sometimes have to be taught to value:

We rested.

Because you can’t play every point at full intensity without recovery between the rallies.

And these Lady Jaguars understood the assignment. 💙💛

A very special thank you to Coach Barnes and her coaching staff for trusting Move Your Body Yoga and bringing the team into our space. We loved having you.

We’re excited to watch these young women compete this season, and even more excited to continue supporting them beyond the court—with breath, movement, mobility, recovery and rest.

The work isn’t only in the jump.
It’s in the landing.
It isn’t only in the swing.
It’s in the reset.
And it isn’t only in the match.
It’s in how you prepare your body to play the next point.

Welcome to Move Your Body Yoga, Southern Volleyball. 🏐

Now go get those kills. 💙💛

Welcome back, SU Women’s Soccer. 💙💛⚽️

They know this space.

They know it belongs to them for wellness — a place where comparison doesn’t live, where they can move, breathe, recover and find rest.

And when they step onto the mat, they know the assignment: practice, practice and more practice.

There’s not an ounce of perfection required here.

Just show up. Move your body. Honor where you are today. And keep practicing.

So good to have our girls back in the studio. 💚

Move. Breathe. Glow.

Just Get Here.

Margaret is on vacation… and she’s still showing up.

Not because she has to.
Because she’s built a habit of honoring herself.

And let’s talk about where she’s doing it…

On the beach.

If you’ve ever walked through soft sand, you know it constantly shifts beneath your feet. It demands more from every step. That same sand makes a plank even more challenging because the surface never stops moving.

Yet there she is.

Strong.
Steady.
Present.

This is exactly why we created the Plank With a Purpose Passport this year.

Your practice doesn’t belong to a studio.

It belongs to you.

Take it to the beach.
Take it on vacation.
Take it to the park.
Take it to your hotel room.
Take it wherever life takes you.

Your passport isn’t just for checking off another day. It’s a reminder that your commitment can travel with you.

Margaret was also the inspiration behind our studio mantra:

Just Get Here.

Today, she reminds us that “here” isn’t a place.

Here is wherever you choose to show up for yourself.

We are so proud of you, Margaret. ❤️

The work doesn’t end when the mats are rolled up.

Proud to support the Southern University Jaguars with movement, mobility, breathwork, and recovery as they prepare for the season ahead.

Every session is an investment in performance—on and off the field.

💙💛 Go Jags.
