For her 1st time at Shimmy on the Colorado we are so happy to welcome Raena.

Here's a little about Ricki Rae Lascody

This is a story of how “mom’s hobby” evolved into a rewarding career as a dance professional.
Years later, I’m really proud of my achievements but still consider myself a student of this beautiful cultural dance.
As MY student, you’ll discover how a dance class becomes an cultural art experience. Appreciating the Middle Eastern origins of this art is very important to me so I strive to make this clear in my performances, in my classes, and when sharing group student shows in our community.
My other goal? As a certified fitness professional, I want you to stay healthy while having a great time learning. Dance should be rewarding and empowering for everyone!

Join us for this year's Saturday Science Fiction production. Are you ready to step into a theatrical show that we put together on Saturday October 10th.
Choose from one or more of these workshops, attend the 2 hour workshop where you will learn a fun choreography based on a science fiction theme.
Then we will have rehearsal on the main stage Saturday from 5-6pm.

Don't worry when you sign up for workshop you will receive an email in a few days from the instructor. They will let you know costume options and send videos of choreography.

Rollercoaster:
Improvisational Belly Dance

Improvisational dance is a rollercoaster in which you are both the rider AND the operator. The thrill, joy, and excitement of it all is both alluring and a little frightening.
This workshop dives into tips and techniques for performing a polished, improvised belly dance piece. This class pulls from my personal experience learning to dance by performing in restaurants & ho**ah lounges and with live bands since the age of 18—and while many things in dance can only come with practice, there are plenty of tips I wish I’d known then!
We’ll be dancing continuously throughout this workshop while we balance the tightrope of both surrendering to the music and staying focused in our dance. Improvisational dance is a gratifying experience both for you and for the audience, and is for absolutely everyone to enjoy.
(Beginner to Advanced)

Sharp as Knives

Carve those isolations sharp enough to cut a man!
In this workshop we dive deep into the musculature that allow for small, precise, and snappy isolations.
Using targeted exercises for various muscle groups followed by challenging drills, we’ll explore what it feels like to nail precise isolations and create fast, interesting lock patterns on the fly, with an emphasis on improvisation.
