More news and the latest activity regarding the Great Sauk State Trail and the Spur route to take it into Downtown Baraboo.
A Request for Proposals (RFP) is now open for design and engineering plans covering the Great Sauk State Trail extension at Devil's Lake State Park and the Baraboo Spur. Qualified consultants have been invited to submit proposals, and nine consultants have indicated an expression of interest, which is an amazing response! Once the proposals are received, the Wisconsin DNR, City of Baraboo, and Sauk County will jointly evaluate and score the submissions to select the best consulting partner for the project. In the photo, John Celly, Parks, Recreation and Forestry Director for the City of Baraboo, speaks to potential consultants on a tour of the Baraboo Spur portion of the project.

The Sauk Prairie Police Department has got it right this morning regarding cycling and e-bikes. We follow our own standards here at Wildside Action Sports and can help service e-bikes, but we take precautions and ask that you leave your batteries at home. We will not work on e-Motos and will be quick to bring up that they are not allowed on the trails at the Chief Naaga Keramani Conservancy.
The Sauk Prairie Police Department supports the safe and lawful use of bicycles and properly classified e-bikes in our community. Bicycles and e-bikes provide convenient, accessible transportation, and many residents ride responsibly every day. Before purchasing or allowing your child to ride an electric-powered bicycle, take a few minutes to verify that it is legally classified as an e-bike under Wisconsin law. Many products marketed online as “e-bikes” may not meet Wisconsin’s legal definition. Some are actually electric motorcycles, commonly referred to as “e-motos,” which may not be legal to operate on public streets, sidewalks, bicycle lanes, or trails.
As always, ride smart and ride legal:
• 🪖 Wear a helmet
• 💡 Use lights and reflective gear when riding at night
• 🚦 Obey traffic laws and signals
• 🚶 Yield to pedestrians
• 🚲 Use bike lanes and paths where permitted
• 🔧 Keep your bicycle or e-bike in safe working condition
Please take a few minutes to understand what you’re riding and where you can legally ride it before heading out.
A safer community starts with informed riders.

Join us all in raising our glasses to honor Audrie Pelosi and support the Wisconsin Climbers Association!
Baraboo has always been a place that comes together—and here at Tumbled Rock, we believe beer is about bringing people together.
Our town was deeply affected by the loss of Audrie Pelosi, an avid climber, beloved wife, cherished friend, and valued member of our climbing family. We hope to honor her life and incredible legacy with our newest beer, Boulder & Braver.
Boulder & Braver is an American Cream Ale conditioned with passion fruit, Cara Cara orange, and pineapple.
Available beginning Tuesday, July 28.
Throughout the month of August, $1 from every pint sold will be donated to the Wisconsin Climbers Association in Audrie's honor.
The Wisconsin Climbers Association is a collective of advocates dedicated to serving as a voice for Wisconsin climbers. They work to foster connections among climbers, address access issues, and promote responsible stewardship of the land.
Please join us in raising a glass to Audrie, her family, and everyone whose lives she touched.
