A few more pics to includes today’s effort. New drip rails installed on the cook box and mounted in the frame. The manifold is completely reassembled and installed along the new burners and hose / regulator.

Progress pics from the last week or so. Frame fully sandblasted, painted, and assembled using all stainless steel hardware. Rehabbed wheels with new inserts. New casters. New stainless steel axle. Disassembled, serviced and polished the gas valves. Cheers!

I’ve got pieces scattered everywhere but the paint is officially done on the Florida grill. Weather (humidity in particular) has made it a slow process over the past week plus. On to the woodwork next while the paint cures a bit.

Paint work is in full swing on the Florida grill so I decided to spend some time working on the 2-burner Genesis Silver A between coats while waiting for things to dry.
In all honesty, I thought for certain this would wind up being a parts grill. As you can see in the photos, the bottom tray was a complete basket case of rot. Fortunately, I was able to source a new (albeit pricey) one.
With that in place, I moved on to swap out the original daisy style wheels to some classic Weber whitewalls and install some new other new parts. A freshly serviced and painted gas manifold with new hose and regulator mates up to new stainless steel burners and is fired by an all new igniter assembly. New stainless steel flavor bars and a new set of cast iron grates complete the internals.
A complete new grease pan and drip tray assembly will finish up the rehab once they get here later this week. Look for it to hit the market at $250 when the last pieces arrive. I’m happy to say we can officially call this one rescued and ready to cook for years to come for about the same price as a cheap home center grill.

I came home with this pile of goodies and more over the weekend. I’ll probably do a fairly straightforward rehab on the 2 burner and see if there’s any interest for it as we head into the 2nd half of summer. The red and mica 1000’s will wait for another day down the road to get new life. Happy grilling!

I finally got the sandblasted parts back for the Florida grill today. Everything looks good and, with the exception of 1 lower crossbar, the steel is all 100% solid. I’m hoping to get everything wiped down and cleaned with maybe even a coat of paint on a few of the pieces tonight before the rain rolls in for the next 3 days. I’ll use some of that down time to fab up the new crossmember to try to keep on schedule from here on out with the project. Wish me luck.

The post Father’s Day portion of June usually signals about a bit of a lull in the grill market before things heat back up in July. Rather than jump right back in to another project, I’ve used some time to stock up on parts and organize the shop a bit more.
Never fear,though. When the sandblasting comes back for the Florida grill, I’ll be back to the grind with plenty of build pics to share.
Until then, I’ll continue to market, sell, and ship my slats and handles as orders come in.

The Weber Guy now has side table wooden slats and lid handles for sale and available to ship!

The Weber slats and handles are usually a large obstacle anyone wanting to do a rehab. More often than not, folks will find a workaround or substitute that might be functional but just doesn’t look right in the end.

These are replacement pieces intended to eliminate poor results and have been manufactured to 100% replicate the original Weber pieces. They will fit Weber 1000-5000 series grills and others.

Each slat measures 15-1/4” long. Slats have eased edges on the long sides and are made of clear cedar. These slats are a perfect fit to your original table brackets and are an exact duplicate to the original OEM weber slats used on the side table and swing up tables on older Weber 3 burner grills. You will receive a set of 6 individual slats for $50.

Each handle measures 24-5/16” long and are also made of clear cedar. 3 slots and 2 holes. Handles are rounded over on the long sides with a chamfer on the inside of the forward facing slots. Again, a 100% match to the original handle. $50 per handle.

All wood is unfinished. Buyer can stain or clear finish as desired after purchase.

I wrapped up a quick turnaround on the Silver B rehab this morning and am happy to report that this 3 burner is a tight little grill. I decided not to do any significant paint on this one to keep costs reasonably in check. The exterior of the cook box and frame are untouched and I hand scraped the interior cook box.
The list of goodies includes a new igniter, new OEM Weber casters, new 16ga heavy duty SS flavor bars, new 7mm solid rod SS grates, new SS burner tubes, new catch pan and grease trays, and a new OEM Weber thermometer. I also rehabbed the main wheels and added new Weber whitewalls.
The cherry on top of the project is the brand new and unused mica grey Weber lid and handle assembly. This is 100% new and is at least 20+ year old dead stock by now. It is the last of 2 that I was able to acquire so don’t drag your feet waiting for another if this one interests you.
It will hit the marketplace and garage sale sites a little later this morning at $450.
