Smokey's Darkside Nitro Funny Car The Darkside is mad motorman Smokey Alleman's vision. It is a unique combo of components and crew. The team's goal? The taking of Funny Car Eliminator.

Smokey's Darkside Nitro Funny Car is the vision of motor man Smokey Alleman. Housed inside a 1978 Dodge Challenger is a supercharged 426 Hemi on nitro -- but with a twist. Despite the body style, it's not a Mopar. Instead, the Darkside uses an Arias engine, a “hemi-heads-on-a-Chevy-block” combination, a powerplant unique to the class. gineering pedal clutch instead of the more customary "Glide"-type. Another element that helps define the Darkside and sets it apart from the rest of the class is Smokey's choice for his driver, "Nitro Kitty" Mendy Fry. A charter member of the AA/Fuel Dragster 250-MPH Club, Ms. Fry is the only female driver currently competing in NHRA Heritage Series' Funny Car Eliminator.
