🤔 Why ride the RG88 with a 2.5" center fin?

If you love quick, snappy surfing in small-to-medium waves, this setup is worth trying! 🌊🔥

✅ Looser, more responsive tail for easier snaps, top turns, and controlled slides.
⚡ More speed down the line with less drag, helping you fly through flatter sections.
🔄 Faster rail-to-rail transitions so the ski feels lively and responsive under your hips.

The trade-offs? 🤷‍♂️

⚠️ It won't track as straight while paddling, so expect a little more wandering.
⚠️ It also feels a bit looser on steep drops until you're engaged on a rail.

For me, this setup really came alive in surf under 5 feet. Fast, playful, and a ton of fun! 🤙 Even for a 8' 8" Waveski—this does not surf like a longboard.

Want better GoPro surf footage? In this quick tutorial, I’ll show you the exact GoPro setup I've been using for years to capture better waveski, surf kayak, and sea kayak surf footage.

This isn't a beginner's guide to using a GoPro—there are already plenty of great videos that cover the basics. Instead, I focus on simple upgrades that makes a huge difference: using an extension arm to raise the camera off the deck for a much better viewing angle and more dynamic perspective and using a remote.

This is the same setup you've seen in almost all of my GoPro videos over the years (except for my earliest ones), and you can definitely see the improvement in the footage.

I hope this helps inspire more of you to start filming your sessions and sharing your adventures. The more content we create, the more we can grow our sport, inspire new paddlers, and keep the stoke alive!

Oh Yeah! I surfed a 24 inch wide, lower volume version, which I felt at 190 lbs I was working too hard on. Nevertheless, I was throwing it around, snapping the tail out.

That's going to someone who weighs much less. Luckily after putting on weight from some injuries I'm getting back down to my goal of 178-180 lbs. I'll get this out in the surf in the next few weeks and give it a proper review!

🔥🌊 THE RG88 IS BORN! 🌊🔥 This one is going to Richie Guerrero—and it’s a completely different animal! 🤙

Conceptualized by Ian Macleod and Richie Guerrero, the RG88 started with Richie explaining his love for the performance of the classic “long-short boat” surf kayaks like the Banshee, Vamp, Eclipse and Kachow—along with his experience riding high-performance stand-up mid-lengths & longboards.

The question was simple: How do we take those performance characteristics and create a longer waveski that DOESN’T surf like a longboard? 🤔🔥

The answer is the RG88 Mid-Length Waveski.

⚡ 8'8" Long x 25" Wide (lengths from 8'6" to 8'10" depending on rider weight)
⚡ Designed for experienced surf kayakers and waveski surfers
⚡ Lower volume with sharper rails
⚡ Added length behind the seat for speed, early wave entry and faster paddle-outs
⚡ Enough length to have fun surfing those gutless, onshore summer slop days 🌊
⚡ Narrow enough to lean it over, bury that sharp rail and CARVE! 🔥
⚡ Easier sweep and C-to-C rolls for waist belt riders

The RG88 isn’t trying to replace our wider, more stable Dolphin Models. This is a different design for riders looking for a narrower, lower-volume and more performance-oriented longer waveski. 💨🌊
