Together, we can make a lasting impact—one child at a time.
Jiu-Jitsu is an art... and every artist has their own style.
There isn't just one "right" way to do everything. There are plenty of ways to solve the same problem, and that's part of what makes jiu-jitsu so creative and so much fun.
But creativity without understanding is just guessing.
When you improvise or develop your own style, your technique still has to meet the fundamental standards that make it work. Proper mechanics, leverage, timing, base, posture, and connection don't disappear just because a move looks different. Those concepts are what determine whether a technique is truly effective or just looks cool on social media.
Everyone will have their own flavor, which is why cross-training is so valuable. Training with different people exposes you to new ideas, forces you to make adjustments, and helps you grow.
As instructors, though, our responsibility is to build a strong foundation first. Once students understand the core concepts, then they can create, adapt, and make jiu-jitsu their own.
With endless techniques available online today, don't judge a move by how flashy it looks. Filter everything through sound concepts and mechanics. If the fundamentals are there, you've probably found something worth exploring. If they aren't, it's probably just a showpiece.
Master the principles. Express yourself through the art.

Tuesday night of Jiu-Jitsu at MMA 101 with the No Breaks Jiu-Jitsu Team!
Tonight was all about Constraints-Led Approach (CLA) games from start to finish, helping everyone learn through movement, problem-solving, and live situations.
Then in nogi attack and defend leg lock flow.
The kids had an absolute blast finishing class with our Crocodiles & Penguins game. They worked hard, learned a lot, and had a ton of fun!
Join us again Thursday for both Gi and No-Gi training. Whether you're just getting started or have years on the mats, we'd love to have you train with us!

There are moments in life that remind you why you've never stopped believing in the journey.
Today is one of those moments.
Starting Tuesday I have the honor of leading the Jiu-Jitsu program at MMA 101 while Professor Brian takes a six-month leave of absence. This is a temporary role, and we're all looking forward to having him back on the mats whenever he's able to stop in and train with us.
Stepping into someone else's team isn't about changing what they've built—it's about honoring it. Professor Brian has poured his heart into this team, and my goal is to continue building on that foundation with respect, hard work, and a commitment to every student who walks through those doors.
For those who know my story, this opportunity means more than just teaching classes. It's another chance to do what I love most: help people grow through Jiu-Jitsu, on and off the mats. Every class is an opportunity to build confidence, discipline, resilience, and a family that pushes each other to be better.
I'll also be offering private lessons out of MMA 101 for anyone looking to take their training to the next level.
To Coach Sean thank you for believing in me and trusting me with this opportunity. To Professor Brian, thank you for welcoming me into your team and placing your faith in me to guide your team while you're away. That trust is something I don't take lightly.
To the MMA 101 family: I can't wait to get to know each of you. My promise is simple—I will show up every day prepared, give you everything I have, and work alongside you to help every student become the best version of themselves.
A new chapter begins Tuesday.
Let's get to work.
