While most of the world was still sleeping, this crew was already on the mats! Training, learning, and becoming better together.

Early-morning training isn’t always easy. It takes discipline to get out of bed, commitment to walk through the doors, and humility to keep learning. Every round and every repetition builds more than technique. It builds confidence, resilience, and character.

Proud of everyone who showed up this morning ready to work. No excuses, no shortcuts! Just consistent effort with a strong team beside you.

🔥 THREE COMPETITORS. ONE TEAM. 🔥

Yesterday, three of our students stepped onto the mats at the Fuji Fort Myers Fall Championship and proudly represented Ave Maria Jiu-Jitsu!

They’ve been putting in tremendous work! Showing up consistently, embracing the difficult rounds, and pushing themselves beyond their comfort zones. Yesterday, they had the opportunity to enjoy the fruits of their labor.

But this journey has never been just about the medals. Medals collect dust. The discipline, courage, resilience, and lessons earned along the way stay with you forever. Competition reveals your progress, tests your preparation, and shows you exactly where you need to grow.

We may have been small in numbers, but we represented with big heart, strong character, and relentless effort. That’s what makes Ave Maria Jiu-Jitsu stand out: we don’t measure our team by how many people we bring. We measure it by how we prepare, how we compete, and how we carry ourselves.

A special thank-you to Carlos Castañeda , a purple belt from Black Tie Jiu-Jitsu Fort Myers, for being there and helping Professor Kenny Costa coach our competitors. Your knowledge, support, and willingness to step into our corner meant a great deal to our team! This is what the Jiu-Jitsu community is all about. Different academies supporting one another, sharing knowledge, and helping athletes succeed.

We celebrate the victories. We learn from every mistake. Then we get right back to work.

Back to the mats Monday. Ready to make adjustments, sharpen our skills, and continue building together. The medals are the reward, but the work is the real victory.

Each class will hold its promotion ceremony during its regular class time. Promotions are earned through skill, teamwork, attitude, consistency, and attendance. Keep showing up, putting in the work, and trusting the process! Your time will come!

At Ave Maria Jiujitsu, we believe being strong means more than knowing how to defend yourself — it means knowing how to stay safe, look out for others, and protect our community. 💙

🇺🇸 Labor Day Open Mat at Ave Maria Jiu-Jitsu! 🥋🔥

This crew chose to spend the holiday on the mats!Putting in hard rounds, sharpening their technique, and helping one another improve. It wasn’t the biggest group, but the energy, effort, and teamwork were strong!

A special shoutout to our team mates who are preparing to represent AMJ at the upcoming Fuji BJJ and UFC BJJ tournaments! Every round, every adjustment, and every tough moment is building the confidence they’ll carry into competition. 💪🏽🏆

While most people were taking the weekend off, this crew came together and put in the work! Today’s mats were filled with tough rounds, great energy, and teammates pushing one another to improve. 💪🥋

A huge thank you to Carlos Castañeda , a high-level champion from Black Tie Jiu-Jitsu, for coming out, sharing the mats, and adding his experience and knowledge to today’s session. We truly appreciate him helping our team! Especially our ladies as they prepare for competition! 👊🔥

This is why cross-training is so valuable. Jiu-Jitsu becomes stronger when different teams come together, exchange knowledge, challenge one another, and help everyone grow. We may represent different academies, but the mutual respect and love for the art connect us all.

Every round, every challenge, and every uncomfortable position is preparing our competitors for battle. The work is being done, and we can’t wait to watch these ladies represent! 💪

🚨 IMPORTANT ACADEMY UPDATE 🚨

Due to our ongoing roof leak, all classes scheduled for this afternoon are canceled.

Unfortunately, a new leak developed in the same area during classes over the past two days. This morning, the ceiling tile became completely saturated and fell through. With everyone’s safety as our highest priority, we cannot safely hold classes while this issue continues.

A roofing expert will be on-site during today’s expected heavy rain to identify the exact source of the leak. Once it is found, repairs will continue throughout the weekend.

We are incredibly frustrated by this ongoing situation and kindly ask that you keep our academy in your prayers. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support. We truly appreciate every member of our Jiu-Jitsu family. 🙏🩵

The academy will remain closed through the Labor Day holiday weekend. We plan to reopen on Tuesday, September 8th.

We hope everyone has a safe, relaxing, and wonderful long weekend. We’ll see you back on the mats Tuesday! 🥋💪

🥋🔥 Morning Gi training with a crew that came ready to work!

Today we focused on countering our opponent’s sprawl after shooting for the double leg. When the first attack gets stopped, the work doesn’t end! We adjust, keep moving, and stay on the hunt! 💪

From the counter, we hunted the back position or recovered to finish the double leg takedown. Jiu-Jitsu teaches us that there’s always another opportunity if we stay calm, committed, and relentless.

Awesome energy, hard work, and plenty of fun on the mats this morning. Proud of this crew for starting the day strong! 🐙⚔️

Ave Maria Jiu-Jitsu will be CLOSED Friday, September 4 through Monday, September 7 for Labor Day weekend. We’ll be back on the mats and resume our normal schedule Tuesday, September 8! 💪🏼
