The Texas heat doesn’t care if you’re having a good round, it can still bite!

When golfing in the summer months, there’s an increased risk of heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Both are serious matters that can impact you long term. When golfing in the heat, ensure you are drinking lots of water (or better yet, electrolytes), finding shade when possible, and keeping an eye on your playing partners. If someone around you is showing signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke, take the proper steps to assist them. This goes for all outdoor activities aside from just golf as well, stay safe and cool ladies! 💚

The July Member Spotlight is here! This month, we’re spotlighting new member Sam Chown Johnston. Read below to get to know her!

“I’m Sam, a communications professional in tech and a recent transplant to Austin. I joined the LPGA Amateurs after moving from Toronto as a way to play more frequently and meet other women who love golf — and to make sure I wasn’t only playing with my husband, Tom. I’m hoping it will help me start to break 90 on a regular basis!

Golf has become one of my favourite ways to spend time outside, explore new places, and stay connected with people I love. My twin sister and I now live in different cities, so we make a point of planning a golf trip together every year; even if we can only squeeze in one round! I’m excited to be en route to play in the Rocky Mountains in Banff. I heard the elevation helps.”

Throwback Thursday to a fun day in May in Austin! A huge thank you to the LPGA Amateur Golf Association - Austin,TX Chapter members who volunteered as golf mentors at our first Golf with Us Day of Play! They helped make the day unforgettable for local junior golfers.

Together with LPGA Amateur Golf Association chapters like Austin, we're building meaningful connections between golfers of all ages and growing the game through the power of mentorship. 🏌️‍♀️⛳️✨
