I'm very critical when first promoting a student ranked from another instructor. It takes me awhile to assess what they do and don't know, compared to what I want them to know at that level - & how competent they are with that knowledge. I'm old school like that.👊🏽

It's because of that, I was excited to give Matt the 1st stripe on his blue belt. This guy has been putting in very serious commitment to map out his jiu-jitsu. 🗺️

Placing self-defense as the primary focus, then restructuring everything around that objective - Congrats brother, keep it going!
