BRENTWOOD & NORTH-CENTRAL AUSTIN FAMILIES — LOOKING FOR A MORE ACTIVE AFTER-SCHOOL OPTION?

Austin Kenpo Karate is currently rebuilding our 2026–2027 After-School Martial Arts Program and establishing our school-pickup route for the new school year.

Brentwood Elementary is one of our primary target schools, and we are also evaluating nearby schools such as Gullett, Pillow and other campuses within our practical pickup area based on parent interest and dismissal schedules.

Our program is intentionally different from traditional after-school care.

Students are picked up from school and spend the afternoon in a small, structured martial arts program focused on:

🥋 Practical self-defense
💪 Physical fitness & coordination
🎯 Focus & self-discipline
⭐ Confidence & self-esteem
🤝 Respect, responsibility & character development

A central part of our philosophy is developing the Five Selves:

Self-Confidence • Self-Respect • Self-Discipline • Self-Esteem • Self-Defense

We are intentionally keeping the program small — approximately 10–12 students — so children receive more individual instruction, supervision and attention.

Austin Kenpo Karate has served Austin-area families for decades, combining martial arts instruction with the values and life skills that children can carry with them long after they leave the training floor.

If your child attends Brentwood Elementary or another nearby elementary school and you are looking for an alternative after-school option, we would like to hear from you.

👉 Tell us your child’s school, grade and the days you need pickup.

🥋 AUSTIN KENPO KARATE — 2026–2027 PROGRAMS NOW ENROLLING

Austin Kenpo Karate is currently rebuilding our youth programs and accepting interest for:

🚌 After-School Martial Arts Program
🥋 Children’s Martial Arts Classes
👊 Teen & Adult Martial Arts Classes

Our after-school program combines school pickup with a structured, active afternoon centered around martial arts training — not simply screen time or traditional after-school supervision.

Students work on practical self-defense, fitness, coordination, discipline, confidence, self-control, respect and character development.

A big part of our philosophy is developing the Five Selves:

• Self-Confidence
• Self-Respect

• Self-Esteem
• Self-Defense

We are intentionally rebuilding the after-school program as a small group of approximately 10–12 students so we can provide more individual instruction and attention.

We are also evaluating additional elementary-school pickup locations based on parent interest and our ability to provide reliable service.

AKK commercial Commercial 3 08/24/2026

Blast from the past. Our late 90s commercials I love doing those and it’s great watching. I’m seeing all the faces from the past. Most of these guys are married with children are in the kids class. They’re all graduated with kids of course it’s been 30 years. Take a look up the YouTube channel look at all four of them. special thanks to Travis Higdon. He created our website so many years ago if you’re out there, Travis chime in

🥋 AUSTIN KENPO KARATE — 2026–2027 PROGRAMS NOW ENROLLING

Austin Kenpo Karate is rebuilding and expanding our programs, and we are currently accepting interest for:

🚌 After-School Martial Arts Program
🥋 Children’s Martial Arts Classes
👊 Teen & Adult Martial Arts Classes

For approximately 30 years, Austin Kenpo Karate has served Austin-area families with martial arts instruction focused not only on learning how to defend yourself, but on developing confidence, discipline, fitness, self-control, respect and character.

🚌 AFTER-SCHOOL MARTIAL ARTS PROGRAM

Our after-school program combines school pickup with an active, structured afternoon centered around martial arts training.

Instead of simply waiting for parents to get off work, students have an opportunity to train, exercise, interact with other students and develop skills that carry far beyond the martial arts studio.

We are intentionally rebuilding this as a small-group program of approximately 10–12 students, allowing for considerably more individual instruction and attention.

We are also evaluating additional elementary-school pickup locations based on parent interest and our ability to provide reliable service.

If your child’s school needs another after-school option, send us:

School Name • Grade • Days Needed

🥋 CHILDREN’S MARTIAL ARTS

We are also relaunching our regular children’s classes for families who want martial arts training without the after-school component.

Our curriculum goes well beyond a single area of martial arts and includes:

• American Kenpo Karate
• Practical stand-up self-defense
• Groundwork & grappling
• Kicking, striking & defensive skills
• Weapons training
• Physical fitness & conditioning
• Martial arts philosophy & ethics
• Leadership and mentoring skills

Students develop a broad martial arts foundation while learning discipline, confidence, responsibility, respect and self-control.

👊 TEEN & ADULT MARTIAL ARTS

Our teen and adult program provides practical martial arts training for students ranging from beginners to experienced martial artists.

Whether your goal is self-defense, fitness, learning martial arts, returning to training after time away, or continuing your development as an experienced practitioner, we welcome you to come train with us.

In Commemoration of Ed Parker: A Legacy of Unity and Devotion

Today, we pay tribute to Edmond K. Parker, the Grand Master and founder of American Kenpo. Although many of us practicing his art never had the opportunity to meet him, his profound influence resonates deeply within the hearts of those he has touched. Mr. Parker's enduring legacy extends beyond the techniques he taught, as it is rooted in the spirit of unity, respect, and devotion that he instilled in the martial arts community.

As one of the most influential martial artists of modern times, Mr. Parker's passing was a profound loss. Nevertheless, his impact continues to shape us into the martial artists we are today. It is remarkable to feel a deep connection to someone we have never met, yet who has played a pivotal role in shaping our journeys.

Today, we come together, setting aside our differences and the politics that often divide us. Mr. Parker held dear the values of unity and respect, and it is our responsibility to preserve the legacy he initiated. We must honor not only his memory but also the families he left behind, including both his biological and extended Kenpo family.

I assumed the role of head instructor at Austin Kenpo Karate in 1997, and I have been training in the art of Kenpo since 1989. I feel the weight of his absence acutely. Despite recently having to close my studio, my passion for teaching remains unwavering. I miss the daily connection with my students, the camaraderie on the mat, and the lessons shared.

To all the lives Mr. Parker has touched, both directly and indirectly, I pay my deepest respects. Let us unite today in honoring his legacy, ensuring that the values he cherished continue to thrive in our community. Together, we can keep the spirit of Kenpo alive and vibrant as we remember and celebrate the extraordinary life of Ed Parker.
