Stretching is a great tool for short-term relief and can help you feel better in the moment. But if your goal is to create lasting changes in mobility and improve your active range of motion, PAILS and RAILS are a great long-term solution. By building strength and control in new ranges, you're not just gaining flexibility; you're teaching your body how to actually use it.
These photos show Hip Internal Rotation PAILS & RAILS:
PAILS = Progressive Angular Isometric Loading
RAILS = Regressive Angular Isometric Loading
The regressive angle (second photo) is the position we're working to improve. The goal isn't just to increase passive flexibility, it's to build strength and control in this new range so your body can actually use it.
By improving active hip internal rotation, we can create more usable space in the joint, helping improve movement and reduce unnecessary stress on the hips and low back.
Benefits of PAILS & RAILS:
• Improve active range of motion and joint mobility
• Increase strength and control at end ranges
• Improve tissue tolerance and joint resilience
• Help reduce compensation patterns that can contribute to hip and low back discomfort

New Blog Post - Controlled Articular Rotations
Controlled Articular Rotations (C.A.R.S.) are a tool we use every day to help maintain range of motion, improve the neural connection to our joints, and work through some of those "sticky spots" that can develop over time. They are a simple yet effective way to keep your joints moving well so you can continue doing the activities you love. Check out our latest blog post to learn more about why we use C.A.R.S. and how they can help support long-term joint health and movement.

Client Spotlight: Michele
This week, we're celebrating Michele and an incredible accomplishment!
When Michele first came to EMX, her goal was simple but meaningful: she wanted to confidently stand and officiate her granddaughter's wedding. Together, we focused on building the strength, stability, and endurance needed to stand comfortably for 30 minutes, project her voice, and fully enjoy such a special moment.
Not only did Michele achieve that goal, but she has continued to build on that success in ways she never imagined. After months of consistent training, Michele and her husband recently returned from an amazing trip to London and Portugal. Throughout their travels, she confidently navigated airports, trains, and long days of sightseeing. She climbed steep steps without relying on a handrail and walked across cobblestone streets with confidence.
As we all know, travel can be physically demanding, but Michele handled the challenges with strength and had a lot of fun along the way. What started as a goal to stand for her granddaughter's wedding has grown into the ability to fully embrace life's adventures and create lasting memories without limitations.
We are incredibly proud of the hard work, consistency, and dedication Michele has shown. Congratulations on crushing your Europe trip, Michele! Next up is getting even stronger for your next adventure!

Celebrating our clients is always easy, but Gale Galloway is especially easy to celebrate this week.
A former Baylor University athlete and standout in both football and track, Gale has always lived with discipline, drive, and purpose. As a lifelong athlete and successful oil businessman, he never saw age as a reason to stop pursuing his goals.
Gale began his journey with EMX at age 87 as one of Michaela’s very first clients. He was referred to EMX by his Doctor to manage high blood sugar, arrhythmias, and blood pressure. Some of his and EMX's goals were to improve balance, stamina, and overall strength for everyday function. Training consistently twice a week, Gale made meaningful progress. His strength and balance improved, his stamina increased, and his blood sugar stayed within healthy ranges, all while continuing to work, support his family, and spend time on his ranch. When COVID hit, Gale took a necessary pause. But the story didn’t end there. Now, at 96 years old, Gale is back!
Over the years, he never stopped by without a smile, checking in, saying hello. This time, he walked back in ready to commit again, training twice a week for 30 minutes. While he faces some challenges, his determination, consistency, and spirit continue to inspire everyone around him.
Gale’s story is a powerful reminder: it’s never too late to start, and it’s never too late to start again.
We couldn’t be happier to have him back!

Assess, not guess. That’s the foundation of our assessment, so we can build the most effective exercise prescription based on what your body actually needs.
Here’s what we look at:
- Passive and active range of motion at each joint
- Sticky or uncomfortable ranges within those joints
- Big toe function and control
- Single-leg balance
- Overall movement mechanics
When a joint has full passive and active range of motion, and you have control within that range, we consider that a healthy, well-functioning joint. If not, it simply means that area could use a little more attention.
Our assessment is inspired by the Functional Range Systems developed by Dr. Andreo Spina, DC, combined with our Medical Exercise Training approach to give a complete picture of how your body moves.
