Former and current Tennesseans weren’t done dominating in Eugene after NCAAs.

Two weekends in a row, McCallie’s Andrew Beroset came within one second of becoming the first Tennessee High School runner to break the Sub-4:00 barrier for a full mile. Though he came up short of that goal, he did move from #2 All Time to the top of the record board overtaking Brodey Hasty’s mark of 4:01.75 set in 2017. His time converts to 3:59.28 for 1600m. He’ll have one more opportunity in Eugene (we assume) before the end of the month.

In 2021, 2:17 won the Class AAA State Title. The ladies have really leveled up this event since. Fifteen of the Top 30 All-Time Marks came from this spring alone.

These are not officially recognized by the TSSAA nor are they the fastest marks in our database but they are the most consistent and accurate marks we have for this growing demographic.
