Open Mat is designed to keep wrestlers moving, learning, and staying in wrestling shape during the summer. This is a more open-ended practice format focused on:

• Live wrestling
• Situational drilling
• Technique review
• Partner work
• Extra mat time
• Staying sharp for next season

This is a great opportunity to get quality reps in and keep improving before the season ramps back up.

Austin Wrestling Academy Families,

As we wrap up another incredible season, we want to thank everyone for the hard work, support, and commitment you’ve shown throughout the year. We’re proud of the growth we’ve seen from every wrestler in the room.

Our current practice session will officially end on May 21st.

Summer Open Mats

We will begin hosting Open Mat sessions in mid to late June. These sessions are designed to help wrestlers stay sharp, keep the rust off, and continue getting quality mat time during the offseason.

- Time: 4:30 PM – 5:30 PM
- Cost: $10 per class
- Payment: Cash or Venmo accepted
- Format: Loosely guided practice with drilling, situational work, and live wrestling
- All skill levels are welcome

Annual AWA Summer Camp – July 18-19

We’re excited to once again host our annual summer camp!

The camp will be divided into two sessions:

- Morning Session: Returning rookies and brand-new wrestlers
- Afternoon Session: Advanced wrestlers

Folkstyle Season Return

Folkstyle training will officially begin again in early to mid August with our annual Preseason Strength & Conditioning Camp as we prepare for another competitive season.

Local Camp Opportunities

We are currently putting together a list of local wrestling camps being offered throughout the summer. Once completed, we will publish the information on:

- SportsYou
- Our social media pages
- The AWA website

SportsYou “Purge”

As we transition into the offseason, we will also be doing our annual cleanup on SportsYou to remove inactive participants from the group.

Our favorite "potato" Audrey has qualified and been selected to represent Team Texas for both Freestyle and Greco in the National Duals this year! We are helping run a fundraiser for her to go represent AWA on one of the biggest stages!
