Congrats to our Tuesday Late Spring league champs!

🏆 Joga Bonito (Open D1)

An 0-3 start to the season and a -6 goal differential for the full campaign might not be the product of “beautiful” play, but after winning their first championship ever, Joga Bonito proved that beauty is in the eye of the trophy holder! The 4-seeded D1 squad pulled off a HUGE upset over reigning champs and top-seed Sporting Soufside in the semis, then followed that up with a nailbiter of a 4-3 win over FC Beercelona. It’s not how you start the match, but how you finish!

🏆 V6 (Open D2)

D2’s champs were firing on all cylinders, and with their 3rd league trophy, have put the rest of the division in the rearview mirror. A 3-3-0 regular season was good enough for a playoff 3 seed, and their efforts were certainly revved up for postseason play. V6 S**t Packed in the goals during their playoff matches, scoring 9 times total, including a dominant 6-2 dub in the trophy match. Congrats!

🏆 Kick Their Grass (Open D3)

Nothing like a little bit of Lawn and Order. After a switch from Thursday Coed, Kick Their Grass found out the grass is a little greener on the Open side. As a 3 seed, they had to face a Wanderers side they hadn’t beaten all regular season (0-1-1), but they turned over a new leaf when the silverware was on the line. They dug deep, rooted out the competition, and planted their flag to claim their 3rd overall trophy!

🏆 Midfield Crisis (Over-40)

In ANOTHER cupset with a winning 3-seed, Midfield Crisis wins their first trophy and becomes the newest Over-40 champ! The squad took down 3-time champs Dad’s Night Out in the semis, then flipped the script on reigning champs Coffin Flippers in the final—avenging their only two regular season losses. Leading Over-40 with 28 goals, they proved the best cure for aging is a clinical finishing touch! Congrats on the hardware!

🍑 From Beginners Only to Captain to Ref Eval Raffle winner!

Congratulations to Kyung Noh of Peachy Puffs, our May Ref Eval Raffle winner!

Kyung began his SOPFC journey in our Beginners Only program in 2024. In 2025, he made the leap into league play and captained his first team before the year was over. He has now captained six times, and plays multiple nights a week.

That is exactly the kind of soccer journey we love to see: finding the courage to begin, discovering a place to play, and eventually helping create that same experience for an entire team. We’re proud to have Kyung—and the whole Peachy Puffs crew—as part of SOPFC!

Naturally, Peachy Puffs turned the official check presentation into a full-squad occasion. Thanks to the team for showing out alongside SOPFC cofounder and referee Christopher Wedge!

✍️ Want your team to be our next winner? Encourage your Captain to complete a referee evaluation after every match—each eval earns an additional entry into the monthly drawing for $50 off your team’s next season. Your feedback helps us recognize our referees, improve the league experience, and celebrate the people who make our community special.

“Oh, the places you’ll go! There is fun to be done!
There points to be scored. There are games to be won.
And the magical things you can do with that ball
will make you the winning-est winner of all.
Fame! You’ll be famous as famous can be,
with the whole wide world watching you win on TV.

Except when they don’t.
Because, sometimes, they won’t.”

Congrats to our Thursday Spring league champs!

🏆 Quaranteamed (Coed D1)

Spreading absolute panic through the top flight! Quaranteamed isolated the competition all season and proved they are impossible to contain, locking down the Coed D1 title for the 5th trophy in team history.

🏆 The Iron Throw-In (Coed D2)

The throne is theirs ⚔️🛡️ Stopping just shy of paying the iron price for the D2 title, Game of Throw-Ins The Iron Throw-In executed a flawless campaign to secure their sixth league trophy! Best of luck ruling D1!

🏆 Kick Their Grass FC (Coed D3)

They’re in the grass kickin’ business... and business is good! _kicktheirgrassfc spent the season running circles around the competition. It was a beautiful display of dominant soccer that earned them a 2nd trophy and promotion.

🏆 ultrAtlanta Red (Coed D4)

Seeing red 🔴⚽️ ultrAtlanta FC D4 team put on a clinic this season. As Coed’s ONLY undefeated team, they led all Thu squads with +24 goal differential on their way to an 8th trophy overall, good for 8th most in league history.

🏆 Barely United (Coed D5)

Just enough to get it done 🤝😏 They might be Barely United FC but they were cohesive enough to bring home the prize, coming together exactly when it mattered most. Hey, a win is a win, no matter how loosely you hold it together! ✨

🏆 MG’s Scumbags (Over-30 D1)

Absolute dynasty 👑 Don’t let the name fool you—Scumbags are pure class on the pitch. After 6 clean sheets in 8 games, a measly 4 goals conceded all season, and a 0 in the loss column, the team earned their 17th trophy all time, further cementing their place as our best Over-30 team ever!

🏆 Jack’s Bulldawgs (Over-30 D2)

Sic ‘em! 🐶🐾 With just 1 loss, Jack’s Bulldawgs ran absolute roughshod over D2. A 5-1 semis win and 2-0 finals run earned the team their 2nd trophy, and a ticket back to D1. Back to the big yard, boys! 🦴

🏆 Bangers Only (Over-30 D3)

No cheapies allowed 🚀💥 New-to-the-league Bangers Only spent no time putting D3 opponents on notice, going nearly perfect in their debut season with a 7-0-1 record and finishing the job in the finals to take home some hardware.

Congrats to our Wednesday Spring league champs!

🏆 Capybaras (Open D1)

More than capy-ble 🦦⚽️ We’ve had our eyes on .football.club for a while, and honestly, we aren’t surprised they found the sweet spot so quickly. Huge shoutout to capy-tain , who made sure the squad capy-talized on every single opportunity this season. Two trophies in just four seasons—and now they’re officially kings of D1!

🏆 Duct Tape and Willpower CF (Open D2)

The quack attack is back! patched together one of their best seasons to date, conceding just 9 goals and losing just 1 match all season. After facing relegation a few seasons back, the squad is the champion of D2 and is headed back to the top flight!

🏆 Iced Out Okongwu’s (Open D3)

CUPSET ALERT! Not to be outdone by their Mon Coed squad, the Wed Open version of Iced Out Okongwu’s entered the playoffs as the post-season’s lowest seed, and still handled business to bring home another trophy. That’s #4 for the franchise cabinet, with more very likely on the way. Congrats on the dub!

🏆 Brandi Chastain’s Sports Bra FC (WNB D1)

Talk about a historic lift! Despite an incredible 5-0-1 regular season, somehow only locked down the 2 seed. But after two dominant playoff wins, including a 2-0 dub over top seed Mia Hammered, they finished 7-0-1 as Wednesday’s only undefeated team. That is trophy #11 for the mantle, making them 5th all-time in SOPFC history.

🏆 Pitch Please Select (WNB D2)

The crew is at it again! After getting slapped with a 0-3 loss by the top-seeded Hotlanta Valkyrie in the final week of the regular season, PPS came into the playoffs looking to settle the score. The team performed exactly when it mattered most, pulling off the upset in the final to take home their first-ever team trophy!

Meme was already a PE teacher and a leader. But when she stepped in to coach middle school soccer, she realized she was still learning the game herself.

“I knew the basic cues,” she says. “But as far as IQ and the rules and things like that, that was something I definitely needed to learn.”

So she joined Beginners Only.

What started as a way to better understand soccer became something bigger: a place to build confidence, learn the language of the game, process grief, and bring new tools back to her students.

“From the outside, it looks like chaos,” she explains. “Just running. High intensity. But when you’re actually on the pitch, you have to be calm. It’s about scanning. Looking. Taking your time.”

On Saturday mornings, Meme learned the cues. On Monday afternoons, she passed them on to her students.

Her story is a reminder that leadership doesn’t require knowing everything, it requires being willing to begin.
