Every correction, every drill, every exercise was designed to help them gain more control, strength, artistry, and confidence in their movement. Because season prep starts NOW. Legacy! Bubblin ‘99-‘00

The dancers from Morris Brown College — especially the “Brown Sugar” team — were already putting on a show 🔥

Back in the late 70s and 80s, they hit the field in that bold orange and brown, moving with precision, attitude, and style that couldn’t be taught — only felt.

This wasn’t just halftime…

This was confidence.
This was culture.
This was Black college excellence in full display.

The music, the band, the crowd — and then them.

Every step had presence.
Every routine had purpose.

And if you were there… you already know:
they didn’t just dance…

they shut it down.

Ashley Harris, Stingette Captain (2012), led an incredible panel at the HBCU Danceline Combine during the Industry Insights: College to Pro Dance session.

She pretty much shared her journey & testimony that led her to working with Missy Elliott and Sean Bankhead. A very enlightening story & one of triumph! A powerful reminder of what determination can produce.

Her story challenged us to ask:
“What is our best stuff?”
And more importantly… “What is our best SELF?”

A thought she had amidst auditions when asked to freestyle/improv.

Very inspirational for aspiring dancers whether high school to college or college to pro!

An excellent experience at the HBCU Danceline Combine, this session was absolutely one of my highlights.
