Saltwater Taffy
pulling, stretching, and sticking together
How can you drop into that sweet spot when moving with a partner? An important piece of partner dance is being able to name the things you like and the things you don’t like. What feels good, what are sensations you’re not a fan of? How can you make those work with another person’s preferences? In this doubles workshop, learning will be centered around finding sweetness in the sticky spots🍬
We got the name for this class by watching each other improv and talking about what we witnessed. One of us is sweet and slow moving, stretching each element into the next. The other is salty, freemoving, and pulls like the tides. Together we feel nostalgic like a childhood treat: Saltwater Taffy.
You will be guided through developing soemthing that is unique to you and your dance partner through watching each other, sticking together, sharing time, space, and weight. Two different dancers, complementary qualities of movement👯‍♀️
Pre reqs: comfortable receiving and giving touch to a partner, preferably someone they have danced with before. Basic understanding of Pole foundations, such a body rolls, pirouettes, and pole sits
